Ash is in hospital

That's truly great Ash - I'm pleased for you. Better for your head to be out of that place!
Cheers
Rob
You hit the nail right on the head
Pun intended
It doesn't do blokes like us any good being in hospital or anywhere away from what we love
All of us have some oil in our veins and are just plain petrol heads
The TV and other distractions just don't cut it

Morning all, well some great news, i might be going home soon, they are so please with my recovery and attitude for quick recovery, my rehab is just down the road from my home in the same complex where i walked down to the Mens Shed 3 days a week before the accident, so when i do my rehab i ciuld go over and visit to my mates there.
Not sure yet when but the the ball is rolling, social worker is coming up to talk to me and arrange all the medical paper work for my daughter to become a care pensioner as we will need help for a long time.
I am so happy today and can't wait to get back home, a few things will need to be done around my house to make thing easier for both of us, not sure how long it be when the wife will be home but i can get the house ready eith a big clean up and a smooth run for the wheel çhair, going for my first rehab workout in a hours time.
I am so happy.

Well the good news i be out of here in the next 5 days, the bad news i won't be going straight home as i be going to a rehab hospital and migth be there for up to 2 or 3 weeks but the good thing about yhat its omly 1km from my place and right on the beach front and my Mens Shed is on the same site, got to go my first shower i report back after, over and out.

What a day, my first rehab session, well more about what is going to happen in the next few months, today was working both legs, how far i can bend the knees, streach the legs and how much i can do that with force on the muslles and all, good thing past fully all test with flying colours (100%) so be a full recovery quicker.
Then after i got back from the session i had my first shower since the accident although the others in the room had their showers the hot water was used up and i had not cold but close to it shower, but it still felt good, washed my long hair and a good long shower felt do goood.
Then a visit by my daughter and social worker to worked out the paper work for my daughter to get the carers pension to look after both of us.
The ball is rolling, as we both need it, going to be a hard year ahead for us.

Well day 19 just on 3pm done my second workout this morning on both legs well whats left of one and also got out of the WC and pulled myself up on the hand rails for standing up and down, a few weights as well, did it all with ease.
The move to the rehab hospital is just when they find a spare bed but closer to home and easer for my excape lol.
My good friend stopped at my home he was going to mow the yard but someone has done it already, so many trying to help us.
I asked if i can drive the ambulance when they move me closer to home with siren going, you think they let me lol.
I put in a report for my missing leg, but no one has found it yet lol.
Well nothing else to report all quiet on the easten front, i just trying to keep myself amused and having fun with the staff, nurses and doctors, they just can't believe how well i am doing but taking things of my mind to a big life change, my goal is to get home as soon as i can.
So its over and out from me and if anyone finds my leg give it back i miss it already lol.

Ashley

Ash I TOTALLY get the desire to be home ASAP.

But… don’t forget you are currently surrounded by professionals 24/7 who really know what they’re doing. At home you won’t be… so all in good time my friend…
I know i am in good hands but home is the best thing for recovery, my problem is my right shoulder was also damaged and needs 6 weeks to recover fully, the process of using cruchers are going to hamper that but last week i couldn't lift my right arm by itself this week i can move by itself by doing my own workout but not putting strain on it, once i can move around with cruchers and able to get up and down stairs i be allowed home, but there is more work involved as well.
As for the siren i be doing the driving and the crew will be buckled in tight as i be the dangerous driver lol not the dangerous cargo.
Well i can only dream thinking of things to keep the mind going this place does some strange things to your head.
No i just behaving myself and tonight i have a nurse on who looked after me the night of the big chop, she can't believe how good i look and my good natured outlook on things, some nurses have looked after me a few times now and we get on like old friends, they all love me even the younger ones, infact i get on so well with everyone, even the crazy one in the bed just over from me.
Just finished tea, the food here hasn't been too bad but the vegies are too over cooked for me and they must think i have a eye sight problem with the amount of over cooked carrots, every fu cking meal carrots with over cooked broclie and coliflower, i like the vegies but here they are so over cooked and taste like sh it.
Well thats my bitch for the night lol, getting sick of writing all this on the phone my fingers are to big for the keys and have fix up letters all the time.

Sorry to hear all of this Ash. Devastating for you both, and your family, including the dog.

Also sorry I am late to it, but I don't normally follow this part of the forum.

Pleased you are making progress. You are a pretty determined individual and that will carry you a long way.

I used to work with a guy who had similar injuries from going under a truck. He was an 'ornery cuss' as they say, he really wasn't for giving up on anything. I really enjoyed working with him because his enthusiasm and determination drove us all on. Sounds like you have some similar genes.

I knew this guy into his retirement, which he put off as much as he could, continuing to travel to work with us in Italy, no mean feat in itself. He lived in the wilds of Canada and was still stacking cords of winter wood by himself when I last made contact.

Who knows what you will be doing after recovery and with a decent prosthesis. More than you imagine is my guess.

Its going to be a interesting year ahead that is for sure but i am up to the task that lays ahead, i don't give up without a fight and this will be a hard task but with the surport from my friends and strangers and the termination i will over power it for sure, but also i an mind set to win with flying colours.
Once the training has finished with a training leg be getting a new leg made for my leg that will be much better but everything takes time and i have plenty of time.
I can't believe how much surport myself and my wife are getting from everyone, it now 11pm and i be happy to put up pics of my first few days in hospital with both feet and damaged arm to one damaged face, to after losing the leg, to healed up arm and to getting my good looks back, the good thing i didn't get a broken nose out of it, my right arm was pretty messed up but its now back to nornal again.
So let me know if you all like to see the pics as i don't mine at all, in away might help me as well to share.

Ashley

Ashley, with your exceptionally positive attitude, maybe you can will that leg to grow back!
Well the other morning the docs doing their rounds as they were leaving i said to them, i am going to grow a new leg lol, one doc replied, good luck with that and let us know how you do it, so we can fix all lol.
With me i look on the funny side of things keeps my mind off of everything that has happened to me and Debra, after retirering back in 2013 at 55 after taking a redundancy from my job of 31 years i hit the beers pretty bad, my wife said to me one morning when i was cracking a can open , Tuesday morning and its 9am and you having a beer, i replied everyday is a Saturday my love, well what she going to do now as i be legless everyday lol.
