Our National Day of Remembrance to Australian and New Zealanders who fought in the great war to end all wars, the first landings at Anzac Cove , Gallipoli, my Grandfather was there for 6 weeks before he got wounded and sent back to England to recover then sent to France, he passed away 3 months before I was born in 1958 and still had effects from mustard gas from the time in France.
Lest we Forget.

We normally go to the dawn service and if we miss it go to the 8:30 service which pulls a very large crowd at Sandgate memorial park, but this year we decided to stay home, the wife is going in for her right eye surgery in 2 1/2 weeks time so decided to keep her away from crowds so she has less chance to get ill before her op.
From the first time I went to my first Anzac day at 11 years old in the boy scouts I have only missed a few since, my Grandfather is always remembered at this time of year, my dad was in the Merchant navy during WW11 and his 2 brothers were in the army.
Today is also the only time Two Up is legal to play outside of a Casino in Australia.
