My name is Dave, and use the "eezeetoo" nom de keyboard as there always seems to be an ES2 involved in my life. I've had my current Commando (just put a couple of photos up in the photos thread) since 1996. It came with revolting handlebars, seat and rear mudguard (a.k.a. fender) all of which I immediately rectified. Fairly soon into ownership, I ftted a Mk3 gearbox cradle and shell (filled up with new bits, including a Mick Hemmings layshaft bearing). I've also fitted the non-balanced pipes after the originals cracked (of course). I also have fitted Tri-sparks ignition
and run hard slides in the Amals. I had a recent misdemeanour - broken kick start pawl, during the repairs of which, I stripped and inspected the gearbox and primary drive, deeming it all good. This bike runs like the proverbial Swiss watch - I couldn't be happier with it . I consider the Norton Commando to be the pinnacle of motorcycle development and anything that has been done since has been a complete waste of time and money

In the past i've owned a 1970 750 roadster (bought new - yes, I am reasonably "mature"!!!) and a string of other stuff - Harley Davidson (still), BMW airhead boxer(still), BSA, Matchless and, of course the ES2 that will not go away!!
