Are the new Premier carbs as sensitive to over tightening the flange nuts as the originals? I've always put the nuts on finger tight then go 1 flat of the nut more with a wrench then a penetrating grade loctite. I'll do the same with the new carbs, just wondering, as it looks like the flanges are a bit more robust.

If they are the latest aluminium body one would thing them stronger but the standard premmies do not seem any better
in terms of strength. I used toothed washers and green loctite.

I'm pretty sure the cross section diameter of the 'O' ring increased years ago and this was the cause of the flange warpage. Could be wrong, but my solution was to use an 'O' ring with a smaller dia cross section that gave just enough crush to seal.

I have had the flange nuts and other screws work loose so now I lock-wire everything; flange nuts and hex bolts, float bowl screws, top screws...
They don't come loose and don't distort the body that way.

The post by Cash makes sense and have to wonder how two items with flat surfaces (not taking into account the O-Ring) bolted together warp.

I removed the carburettor studs to lap the manifold (both sides) faces and gave the holes a light countersink so there could be no risers.
The inner studs were replaced with handle bar cap screws.

(The studs seem to short to me)
