Alton Inner Chain Case Sealing Discs

I was just starting to put the primary back together following gearbox work when I noticed that the sealing discs are revolving with the clutch mainshaft. The seal is gripping the shaft overcoming the grip of the discs on the case, but it takes very little pressure to stop them turning. The rivets on the discs look ok.
I suspect that this has always happened as l would find a little aluminium sludge whenever I changed the oil, and could never find a cause.
Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, what was your solution?

Well, if it's easy to stop it spinning, just a blob or two of silicone across the joint (not inside it) let it set, and see if that's enough to stop it. That way if you ever need to disassemble it or adjust the chain tension you can just cut it off and re-apply in the new position.

I had a problem where there was a small defect in my new Alton uninstalled kit whereby the plastic seal that seals the rotating clutch shaft (and is contained by what you call the seal disc) was too small ID and would not slide onto the clutch shaft for install. I stopped installation and Alton right away sent me the right sized plastic seal and new (what you call) seal discs with rivets.
I drilled the rivets out of the old seal disc and installed the new with small machine screws and red loctite.
I did not use Alton supplied rivets because if any of the three rivets is tightened more than the others, the seal discs warp and you see the inner one is not touching inner primary at some point

I think you have two options. First is to drill the rivets and carefully bend the seal discs so they contact (inner primary case) all the way around on the inside of case. I think if they don't contact all the way round, (especially on top side) you might have leaks.
The second option is to order new seal discs and plastic seal from Alton. They will seal perfectly when machine screwed together. But there will a reassembly delay while you wait. If you do this second option, tighten each of the machine screws a bit at a time checking that the seal disc is contacting all the way around as it should.

I think that if you do the blob of silicone, and later want to adjust the primary chain tension, you have to pull out all lthe Alton to cut the set silicone out.

However, if it takes little to stop the rotation of the seal disc, may a coin sized blob vertically at top of seal disc, would allow a little give if you need to adjust chain tension. Maybe there is a silicone out there that allows a lot of flex....

I retract all I wrote previously!
Why not ease the inside diameter of the plastic seal with some extremely fine sandpaper. Start with say 2000 wetndry maybe?
Then maybe a little Hylomar between inner sealing disc and inner primary to stop rotation. That will stay flexible so you can adjust primary chain

I considered all the options, and decided to open up the seal the minimum amount to stop rotation. It took quite a few attempts, but eventually I got it to the point where there is no rotation. My big concern is the that I have now opened it up to the extent that it will leak. Thinking about this I think that I am going to try fixing (with silicone) one of the original felt seals, which I happened to have around, over the end of the sleeve gear. There appears to be sufficient space. I'll see how it goes.
