Does anyone make aluminum side covers? I couldn't google anyone up. I've got a sweet brushed aluminium roadster tank for my 2a project and was just going to have a few coats of clear applied to it, it's perfect. I've got the original steel side covers. Is it doable to try to duplicate the brushed aluminum w/ the steel covers?

Need some opinions:

my '72 has a fiberglass tank and side panels. They are not long for this world. I'm thinking of putting the alloy tank and steel/aluminum side covers on it and getting a steel, Indian, interstate for the 2a along w/steel side panels. The interstate tank and panels would be painted. The '72 is used for whipping around the twisties here and the 2a would be used for long distance on the interstates. The alloy , roadster tank is a work of art and I'm just not certain of which bike to bestow it upon. As always, thanks in advance, Rick

Call Evan Wilcox and bring your Wallet, his work is ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING! but he does not do anything cheap and he DOES NOT get in a hurry.

Just google:

Evan is too steep for me! I just bought a wire welder and maybe now's the time to buy a sheet of aluminum and try to cobble a pair up

You can polish the steel ones and clear coat them. Steel polishes up nice sometimes. If you can make a set of alloy ones yourself I would bow at your alter! BTW who made your alloy roadster tank?

I got it from waldridge and he got

from an outfit in wales. Here's pix

yes but you pay for what you get - he made a tank for me and it was absolutely perfect - $1500 - but considering a mass (and sub standard quality) produced india tank is $500 and has to be painted to look decent (another 200-500 depending upon quality

had my bike for 24 yrs - even if i have it only 15 more its not to expensive of an investment i think
