Dual fire coil for $81 from the local Harley performance shop. It's a US Andrews 12v 4.8ohm. Made up a little bracket from some alloy I bought from bunnings. Total cost $86.60 including Allen bolts.
Also reconfigured my kill switch into the equation as this had been bypassed a few years ago.
All good.
Thanks all for all the help

Glad that you were able to sort this out, thanks for posting your thread. The stock kill switch is known to have been problematic in the past on some bikes....might be why it was bypassed.

I'm gonna fess up here, I bypassed it when I fit my first tri-spark unit as my knowledge was less than zero at the time. The kill switch now works as it should which is handy. Always wondered how I would go if I ever had a slide stuck open on WOT or the like!!

Hello
Simlliar problem out for a blast through the Park overtake several cars no probs 2nd to 3rd 80ks plus, about 10 mile further on, go for another overtake, Los cyl started coughing, relax, open other fuel tap, running alright, end up behind a learner car driver and a chook chaser, went to blast past, all of a sudden the only sound was of a Kookaburra laughing. Get home by a retreival van( $$$) finally take tank off, find connection between the coils decided it needed to be somewhere else.

Oh I hear ya Peter!!
I'm going to totally rewire mine with my buddy who is a sparky and just did his xs650. There is just far too much going on for my liking. Going to keep it as simple as possible with a dedicated ignition harness so I can easily identify probs with ignition or totally remove it in one piece if I get a magneto

I did mine as simple as I could, and although I didn't make it removable, I the ignition circuit separate by fusing it separately.
It really is amazing just how simple the harness can be !

Yeah I'm going to go dead simple. Ditch all the crap in the headlight shell and have a circuit boad type outfit in the battery compartment. If there is any electrical issue just pop the seat and work across the problem section. It'll be one of two things, connection to the board or the wire.
