Just unloaded bike from Landcruiser november 2007. Picked up from Melbourne the day before. If this works I will post a picture of where I am up to now.

Cool Fastback!

Sparkles aren't necessarily my favorite, but it's like my Dunstall flavored Combat that not too many people like the look of, it's an "acquired taste".

I have not worked on it as often as I should have. Last played with the toy last september when I got all excited as my children and wife were going to buy me for my 60th new engine pipes and mufflers but Eades in Sydney were out of stock and had to source a new supplier and on 10 January they still had not landed in Australia from England. Only engine pipes available are Japanese. Will refit the old stuff to get it going and replace later. Have been working on the house since before xmas. She who must be obeyed requested painting and new carpet etc. As I am alowed to spend what I like when ever I want to on the Norton and other toys I thought it would be a good idea to respond to her request.
Picture as Cash requested.

I love your new bike Ian, I think that colour suits it too. I want one just like it. Have fun. Ben.

More photos of the tank and tail, hard to get the colour in a photo the same as to the eye. They are close and are the only parts I have not touched in the restoration as for their age they are in good condition, even the transfers are ok.

I love it! After looking at your bike as well as others I'm rethinking my color choice on my black roadster. What you have is something very different and I like it.

Steven if you go with the metal flake green I would love to see how close they can get to the original colour and metalflake finish. I may be wrong but my tank and tail is not painted but original fibreglass and clear gelcoat over the green fibreglass, metalflake finish.

Just talked to dupont paint rep and he has all the latest and greatest paints. You are right. he could not match the high metal flake and candy color of gel coat but he can get close. I will probably stay with black and hate myself for doing so. Green looks great on your bike with the tail to match the tank. Might not look as good on a roadster. Sure looks good on yours though.

I used to think that black was the best looking color, so I painted my metal flake blue S black. Now I am trying to get it back to the metal flake blue. Such is life.

It seems like the majority of Commandos are black - at least the ones I see.
Even my bike was black when I got it, and I decided to paint it whatever color was first on the tank/sidecovers.
As I stripped it, it went black, red, black, red, black, black, red. The color it is now is a match from a silver dollar-size chip I was able to scrape off the tank. I am happy with the color, even though I now think the tank and sidecovers were from a much earlier bike, as the color is more signal red than Candy Apple (and the first tank and sidecovers are glass, not metal).

The metalflake on that fastback is truly amazing. I wouldn't change a thing.
I wonder how many are still that color?
