Hi All.
I usually buy FAG NJ 306 E from Andover.
A friend of mine bought me two NU 306 MC3.
At first glance they look the same of NJ306E and the real difference is that the inner bushing out from both sides of the bearing.
Please, are they usable.
Thank you
Piero

A NJ306E has the NU306 outer race (double side flange) and NJ306 inner race (single side flange)

IMO NU306E is not recommended as useable for the norton application.

I would never use anything except a C3 clearance. I've tried 3 times and the case shrink fit bearings pinches the rollers on a standard clearance bearing.
I have some standard clearance bearings for sale-cheap

Hi All,

My understanding is that the single flange inner race type is needed to allow the adjustment of the axial play of the crankshaft.

NU306E inner ring has no flange at all. its parallel.

sorry all:
Thanks I should have thought of that...it would explain one used very old Bower bearing I have.
Probably can only use it with a ball bearing on the timing side.

Well.
Can i use NU 306 MCE with NJ306 inner race (single side flange) that come from used NJ?
Thanks.
Piero

Mixing old with new parts, especially in bearings is NEVER a good idea.

If you were really cheap, it might work - for a while.
Then you'd be doing it again....

That would not be a sensible thing to do in my opinion.

Also, '306' is the standard roller bearing, (NJ)306E is the correct bearing for a Commando.
