A thread with a thread question

"time of production" - - are you saying a early 74 could have different hardware from a late 74? if so, with all the different thread types, how do you folks keep things straight? is it safe to assume if I order a part from someone like oldbritts.com - say p/n 60348, hex nut, 5/16 X 24, I would get the correct fastener for my application, or am I putting too much thought into this? BTW, thanks for the stainlessbits.com link.

Old Britts website is a wonderful resource for all sorts of stuff including the thread count on all fasteners listed. So as an example when you pull up parts for a 1974 cylinder head it shows the head bolt to be 3/8 X 26.

A little research and experience tells you that this is not a UN thread but a cycle thread.

It would be lovely if the Andover Norton site also showed the thread size on their fasteners. But for as long as we have Old Britts, use it to verify. I buy parts from Old Britts but if it is a standard UNF thread like 3/8 X 24 I can shop at my local parts store as well.
