I read this as good news.

As per below:

Norton Parts

Good Afternoon Jason,

You are correct, as stated in my first email to you, the parts from the 961 Commando Classic that we build only will be able to be purchased, and you are indeed correct again in that we cannot guarantee that the parts designed for our Commando Classic 961 will fit any other motorcycles.

Thank you for your understanding and I will notify you once we are open for business.

Best Regards,

Scott Gibson

Thanks again Scott.

I assume from your email I will not be restricted from purchasing parts intended for the New Classic Commando, but simply that you cannot guarantee the fitment or suitability.

That’s fine. Please continue to update me when the parts store will be open.

Best of Luck

Jason

That reply is no different to the other thread.

After sales Administrator. What kind of wishy washy title is that.

Translation, the first reply in the other thread regarding parts for a 961 that will fit any 961 but we will not admit that was written by a solicitor or accountant as a disclaimer.
Norton will make sure there is distancing from the previous entity. (Somewhat sensible and expected)

The latest version of Norton is hardly going to build 20 totally new 961's when there is/was already one and a good deal of it was outside sourced.

The new Norton has shown already it is run by people with no real aptitude especially mechanical and the resent replies from them show that.

Parts will come available via some channel, present 961 owners will simply have to do some leg work as to how complete that parts coverage is and if they screwed a few bikes together from inherited stock they then have an obligation to supply spares for them.
Those parts will fit the previous generation 961, if not the company will go the way of the previous based on incompetence to date.

@Time Warp Maaaan, I've got to tell you, I read that so much differently to you.

And that's fine. I'm happy enough with the outcome of them supplying parts that fit their 961.
