A little "perspective"

I thought Cowboy hats were high style in NY, and could even help get you a 'job' !

A little "perspective"

I wore a shantung stetson in NYC on rooftops when not required to wear hardhat. They get sweaty and heavy, but I do like em.

I started watching that movie once, something came up about 15 minutes in and I had to leave somewhere. Never have finished watching it...

I'm from Texas. It's a cozy little state. When we go for a ride, we make sure we've got plenty of gas!

I'm from Laredo (on the Mexico border), now living in Leander, just north of Austin, the State Capitol. Laredo and Leander are 285 miles apart.

My driveway is a 3-minute drive from some of the best riding in the State, and even the country. When we lived in Laredo, it was a 2-hour ride to the first curve in the road!

"I'm going to ride Great Britain, end to end!"

So... what are you doing later that afternoon?

hee hee
If you are hard core and don't care about what you are passing through (i.e. just ride, stopping only for fuel, food and toilet), you should be able to do Land's End to John O' Groats in about 15 hours, but why anyone would do that is beyond me. Besides, it will probably be miserable weather for at least part of the time...
Most people seem to consider a quick trip to be 4-5 days, gives you a bit of time to see some of the more important sites. There's a _lot_ of history that you pass through on your way :) :)

I did it in 2002. No sat nav or I phones, plotted the route using maps… how quaint !

Avoided motorways completely.

I think we took 4 easy ish days. Plus a day to get to the start and a day to get home from the finish of course.

It was a great ride.

Just thinking about it makes me wanna do it again !

However, if you look for the shortest coast-to-coast you can do here (ie East-West) you can do that in an afternoon… with plenty of tea stops !
