850 in a 1962 featherbed frame?

The Burton's solo seat is very comfortable and can ride all day without any problems at all, I have done a lot of long trips with it and never had a sore bottom at all.

ashman, where did you get that oil tank ? looks really good and complements the rest of the bike IMHO. Also the box or tray peeking out from under the seat looks custom made for the space, did you weld that one up to fit?

The oil tank came from Lowbrows in the US and has been on the bike for over 4 years now and looks great, was easy to mount under the tray, the tray was made at work to replace the orginal Featherbed tray as it was rusted out, I have all my wiring inside that box and can also fit a small battery if i want to and the underside I have battery elimnator as well as a hidden kill switch for the Joe Hunt maggie, I run very minmaul wiring on my bike only 4 main wires and 1 earth wire which I don't run in with the main wiring and have reasons for doing it this way.

I think I only payed about $150 us for the oiltank, its a round alloy tank and sitting where it sits keeps very cool, I can put my hand on the oil tank without it being hot when riding, I also run a locheed oil cooler all year round and have done so for 38 years, I think thats why I get good milage on my motor.

Never to old Slick and I will be doing it till I drop, I have a 1960 Manxman that I will be starting shortly, have the frontend on and rear end but have not done much more in the last year or so, just been to busy with other poeples bikes, but once I get use to early retirement things will get better.

I am also interested in your oil tank. How does it mount? Can I get rid of my batt box bottom? (its already cut in half and only holds up the stock oil tank). I have a Joe Hunt mag and don't need a batt. How long could your intake manifold rubber tubes be extended if I used longer hose before the aircleaners on your JS Flatslides hit the oiltank (total rubber hose length) ?

The oil tank has 3 top mount threads for bolts that is mounted under my top tray and also has a threated mount under the oil tank for a bracket to run to the top engine mount cross section of the frame, I have that bracket bolted on where the rear gaurd is mounted, so 4 bolts all up and each one is rubber mounted, I have had no problems with this set up at alland sits very firmly.

This a very well made oil tank and the workmanship is out standing and of course the price was right at the time I brought it just over 4 years a go, I do have a centralized oil tank for my other Featherbed but I like the round one better as well with the oil cap to the side no need to take the seat off to check the oil level.

With your PWKs and air filters I still have 3" clearance between the end of the air filters and oil tank, so plenty of room to spare, so no need for the battery box, I don't use a battery at all on my bike and with the battery elimintor will run the light off the altenator, the light is OK but not the brightest but is good to run the brake light and tail as well I don't ride it much at night but will get you home safely if you need to ride at night.
