I have recently came upon a set of Dunstall jugs pistons and rings.I was wondering if I could use these with my 750 head connecting rods and push rods? Any idea what if anything that will need to be changed.I should mention its going on a 750 commando.
I had noticed that the studs that go down from the head threw the jugs will need to be changed because they are too short. My worry is piston to head clearance.
Here's a shot of a stock 750 piston joined at the wrist pin to an 810 piston. It's turned in at the top above the ring lands to clear up into the heads. Squish band clearance should be .010". Valve pockets should be deep enough for ss cams but you should check anyway in case some one planed the head or something.
Here are the fitting instructions I tried to salvage from an 810 piston box.
Quite a few shown ( 4 ) on google pics . ' Dunstall ' .One test whinges itll only do 12.7 ,
emphatically ( the road tests book 0 ON a 21 Tooth Sprocket .Apparently with the 17 T
sidecar sprocket they get his claimed 11.9 .
It seems that I need special cylinder base nuts and possibly different studs that go from the head down into the jugs.
Also different studs that go up from the case into the jug.
