I've had 2 Sylvania 7528 bulbs (from AutoZone) in the tail lamp and they last about 1 or 2 days. Will the 1157's last any better? It's always the running light part.

Huh, I give up, which one won? I tend to lose wire connection to bulbs more than lose bulb filaments. Also might be a bad batch as happens in spark plugs.

I suggest you remove the tail lamp lens, then start up and check if the bulb is rattling in its holder as you rev the engine?

The tail filament is the thinnest wire of the two-so it's usually the one that breaks from vibration.

When I bought my Commando I was experiencing the same problem of the tail filament constantly blowing.
With the lens removed, I could see that the bulb was vibrating like a tuning fork in the lamp holder at certain engine RPM so I wrapped an elastic band around the bulb base to prevent it rattling, and the bulb has not blown since then.

Actually I remember the lamp holder was pretty loose in the assembly. I'll check it out.
