Could someone post some photos of the triple tree/yokes of 750 S?
I would like to see, in particular, the front light and his attacks ring save.

There are differences with the triple tree/yokes of the early Fastback?

Ciao.

Piero

No diagrams available that I know of for the 68/70 S or Roadster with the halo light. Early Fastback had same tree parts I think. Do you have the 68 "Commando Spares List" "with supplements for 69 and 70"? That will show the parts for the Fastback and list the S and Roadster parts on separate pages.

Later trees (71) had pinch bolt for stanchions perpendicular to front/rear line of bike and the center spindle attached to the top tree, not the bottom. Castings changed too.

The book is available here as .pdf http://www.eurooldtimers.com/eng/manual ... 1970-.html

There are 5 large parts for the headlamp holder, 2 upper brackets, the halo, and 2 spacers. Then there are the various nuts and bolts plus the 2 white covers for the lower halo mounts that fit over the protruding studs that are part of the stanchion pinch studs.

Hi Dave,
Thanks.
The lower yoke seems like the early fastback but the upper yoke look like but, i can see from the pictures you posted, has in low side two threaded connections to fix the ring light bracket.
Is this so?
Ciao.
Piero

The upper yoke has 2 - 1/4-28 threaded holes for hex bolts/washers for the little arms. The lower yoke, the ring is supported by 2 -1/4-28 stubs off of the 7/16" stud that is also the pinch stud for the stanchions.

I don't know if the early fastback has the same holes and studs in the yokes.

bwolfie may know, he's got an early FB he's working on right now 1968-fastback-commando-finally-here-t16771.html

Dave

Nope, only the 'S' and early Roadster have internally threaded bottom yoke studs.

Well,
Thank you.
I would like to buy one of the S upper yoke if someone has to sell.
Ciso.

"Fork Crown" I think, 06.1133, check with Andover. Good luck.

Powder, the guy called it 'Chrome'. I didn't think it was a bad match to the original color, just shinier.

Hi Dave,
could you be so kindly to post some pictures of the S where i can see the fitment, on the battery tray and tank oil side, of the side covers.
Thank you.

Oil tank on a 'real' S type is central, not on the side.

Side panels would be fiberglass and will attach by brackets attached on the frame at the rear, same both sides. Left panel is fixed with bolt/spacer/nut to frame web, right side attached with dzus fastener for easy removal for tool.

You can go through all 24 pages of my Norton pictures here. http://s251.photobucket.com/user/DogTi/ ... t=3&page=1 but they are not organized.

Re: 750 S triple tree/yokes/more

Dear Dave,
Please, In your pictures i can't able to see if the rear support bracket (that fits the rear fender on the frame) is like to one n. 062169 of the 750 roadster 1970 's onwards.
The rear fender is different too?
Sorry for the disturb, but I can't find a manual with the illustrations of the various parts of the S.
Thanks.
Ciao.

No diagrams exist for the S model in the rear mudguard, oil tank, battery tray area that I have ever seen. The 69 spares book includes supplements for the S, R and 70 Roadster parts but no diagrams. Some of he part numbers in the book are questionable as well for the S, R and Roadster. As far as I have seen, there are 2 styles of oil tanks for the early bikes. One had the breather from the crankcase going into a spigot on a 'top hat' thing on top of the oil tank. Mine is like this. You can see the spigot here.

There is also a later style oil tank, I don't know when it changed. The spigot now is in the top of the main tank.

Here you can also see the 2 different type of rear mudguards, mine is on the left painted blue and mounts with a strap between the shock top bolts and a screw from the triangular horn mount off the battery tray. The mudguard on the right is a later S type and notice the flat spot on it. It mounts off a bracket (I don't have a picture) that mounts on the web between the frame below the shock top mounts I think. So again, there are 2 type of mudguards for the early S type.

I have fitted a later 71 style mudguard because I haven't gotten mine repaired and I haven't found a good replacement.

At the bottom of pages 20 and top of 21 in my album are pictures of the oil tank, and the battery tray that should show how that is assembled. In this picture, you can see the horn and the triangular mount, the bolt from the top right triangular piece goes through the battery tray lip, the triangular mount piece and then a nut, and also passes through the rear mudguard which has a small square reinforcement on it and then another nut to hold the mudguard down there also.

this may be a better picture of the rear mudguard strap between the shock tops and the center bolt from the battery tray that holds the fender also.

I hope this helps, if you have the correct parts it will go together, if not, it won't. I had to drill extra holes in the 71 rear guard to make it fit with my strap and the center hole from the battery tray. Seems like all the rear mudguards I see for the 69/70 are the ones with the flat spot on them.

Dave

Also if you notice on the mudguard with the flat spot, it appears that there are 2 holes in it for the bolts off the battery tray.

I'm not sure what mounts in that little hole between the battery tray holes and the strap or bracket that mounts between the shocks.

This is the other bracket type that is diferent to Daves and does not have a mounting bracket going from the top shock bolts, this bracket was used with the guard with the square bottom.

Al,
Does anything on yours mount in that small hole in the rear mudguard between the 2 large mounting holds and the small one(s) from the battery tray?

Also, I've seen those rear mounting brackets for sale now and then. But I've never seen the strap I have nor the round rear mudguard like mine. You can see I bought another rear mudguard, but I didn't know it was different. My original is fairly trashed, but probably repairable for $$$.

Dave

That was the first thing I took off my bike. It didn't need any help leaking oil. I just forgot about that and I'm sure I threw away all those oiler parts. They're probably worth big money now, yeah, sure.
