I have to sell my 73 Commando. Had looked forward to restoring it some day but don't have a place to store it. It hasn't run in 15 years but is complete. I purchased second hand from Ed LaBelle in Philadelphia in the late 80's. Could probably be made to run without a tremendous amount of work but would be a project to make it "pristine". Any thoughts on what a decent project Commando might be worth?

a complete Commando w/title that doesn't look like it's been stored in the ocean can get you $2k on eBay in the U.S.A.

2000 dollers?
No wonder we import them from USA. £4000 over here.

Interestingly I have a '72 750 Commando (combat) that was restored about 3 yrs before I stuck it in my basement where it has been for the last 14 years. I have owned it for about 22yrs. It is dirty and mildewed and the chrome has some superficial rust/pitting, but it was a gem before I parked it.

Any ideas what something like that might be worth?

Thanks,

Hmm, that's tough. It's possible everything needs to be addressed (aged rubber, etc) but could be an easy restoration. $2000-$4000. Luckily I picked my complete bike up for $1,000 (sat in a barn since 1980).

Real gems here (U.S.) fetch ~7,500.

Got pics?

Looks complete. Carbs? I'm still thinking it's workth $2k. -would have to be gone through thoroughly to make it right.

You're looking at $10K+ to make it right. Why not restore it? You're $2K ahead right now.

I recently bought one in about the same shape for $2300. Complete, but not running when I bought it. It was easy to get it running, not easy to stop pouring money into it. I'm still not done, but I'm not defeated either.

I'd get it running just so you can say it runs, put it on ebay with a buy it now for 3-3500. Nothin to loose and if that doesn't work lower the price a bit and add best offer.

Seat doesn't have the strap and no Norton logo on the back, but yes, the shape is right and has the correct numbers of pleats. I wonder why it is on a '73? Metal fuel tank, big plus.
