Is there a simple way to check to ensure that the vent on the screw-in gas cap is functioning? If blocked, any best ideas on how to clean/repair? I don't think you can get these anymore, so I want to try and avoid destrying it in order to fix it... thanks

Are you referring to the Ceandess push down and turn gas cap that came on the bike?
If so, it should have a simple hole in the top of it. I've had mine become clogged with dry gas, dirt etc. I simply took a safety pin and poked at it.
Should be a very simple fix.
If it's venting, you should also see a bit of dry gas start to discolor around the vent hole. I just wipe mine down every now and then to keep it from clogging.
And if it's not venting, you'll hear it when you open the cap.
Hope that helps.

Thanks. Am investigating a tendency for the bike to die and not readily start after riding for a bit, and want to start with the easiest first...

Is your bike fitted with a magneto ?
That probably needs to be the 2nd thing investigated.
Especially if it hasn't been rebuilt ??
Good Luck.
