I hope you can find a 650SS. It was my favorite before I got onto the Commando project at N-V. I rode a rather elderly, company-owned 650SS to and from work and thoruoghly enjoyed it. My route was 45 miles an almodst all on 2-lane country roads. The 500 cc Dominator was also a decent bike, since the smaller engine didn't have the higher vibration level of the 650.
Somewhere in my photo archives, I have a shot of my two young daughters (3 and 2 years old at the time) sitting on the 650 in our driveway. If I can find it, I'll post it.
Since we moved to the US and I watched the little old ladies driving their Oldsmobile 98s along the freeways at 45 mph, peering through the steering wheel, I decided that riding a motorcycle on the street over here wash't a good idea.
Of course there are a lot of enthusiaists here. Our home town, Anacortes in Washington State, hosts an event at the end of September called "The Oyster Run". The weather wans't that great this year, so "only" 20,000 bikes were counted. I think the record is approaching 40,000.
I went into town to look around and didn't see a Norton of any type. Triumphs were well represented, but mainly the modern ones. There was one Sott Squirrel, but it flashed past before it registered and I never found the owner.
I think I'll get the group T-shirt to wear next year and see what develops!
