2016 INOA Feather River Rally July 11-16, Quincy, CA

I'm partial to Newcastle Brown Ale, but I also like Guinness Draught. I really prefer English beers over all but I do like San Miguel dark lager,(my Filipino connection).

On my way

Wish I was there. I intend to go to the rally next year, in Northern Virginia.

I hope there's beer

The 70s were rough on some people.

We should make him change his forum name to "Shep". All in favor...

Great to meet some of you and put a face to you. Here is a video of my walk about with Glen last Tuesday:

Likewise Jerry,

Now I know more about you and could recognize you should we meet again. Thanks for all you do for our Norton community.

It was a great Rally and when I get through putting away all my stuff I'll start working on my photos and videos to share.

Cheers,

PS It's time for me to upgrade to VIP membership

Lots of great machines. The BSA Victor with the tail tank and batwing fairing gets my vote for "Most Bizarre"

Another great rally. Thanks for the walk-around, Jerry. It really captures the spirit of the meet. I meant to take a bunch of pictures at the concours, but forgot all about it when the time came.

We blew a spark plug out, threads and all, in the Triton V10 engine in the motor home about an hour and a half away from home, and finished the trip on 9 cylinders, sounding like a tractor with an open exhaust manifold. But we got there on time, and had no problems except the noise on the way home. The fridge in the motor home also died when we got there, and we lived with warm beer and the smell from the ammonia refrigerant during the week. Fortunately, we were able to sponge off of friends for enough cold beers to survive (and maybe a wee bit more). Not to mention the Glenfiddich from Mark from New Zealand and his friends. Tom Kullen took pity on us and dropped off some ice so we could use the freezer section as an ice chest. None of that diminished the level of fun we had. It was really great to see so many old friends, and make some new ones.

I had a chance to meet and talk with Matt from CNW. He's really a great guy, still full of enthusiasm for Nortons, and going full tilt to come up with new products. He had his new electric starter conversion on display, and it really is slick. Kenny Buchanan was there, and gave a good talk on wire wheel building, particularly the Norton applications. He was hard to miss, being the only guy there in a kilt.

The rides were great. My grandson got to ride the Commando most of the time, so I was stuck with the Kawi, which was probably not a bad thing. I managed to ride four of the five planned routes, as well as some other local stuff. That's better than I managed last year. Really nice twisty stuff, as well as some smooth pavement higher speed sweepers, and beautiful views.

Next year is back on the other coast, Virginia if the rumors are right. I'm hoping to be there.

Thanks Dave. Yes, I was the very lucky chap to be in the right place at just the right time and snapped up this beauty! Here’s a video of the bike just after I got it and I will create a thread to track on the progress. I’m sure that I will also need to seek some help and advice from the forum members! It was my first rally and it was brilliant. I met some really cool folks and had a terrific time.

Congratulations Mike. I think old Shep was lucky to find you. I know you'll do right by her and have a right proper rider and show piece by and by.

Thanks for introducing yourself to me at the fairgrounds. I recognized your voice on the video and noticed you're in Portland these days, so we're now hooked up, as we say in the States.

Great Rally, C-ya,

My daughters and I had a great trip to the INOA rally. Great to see all the old friends and meet a few new ones.
We got home last night after about 2500 miles round trip. The only need for the tool kit was to tighten the mirror on Jess's Bonneville.
It was a warm trip. Jim
