Hi,

I need to replace the RH switchgear, the only new unit I see available is a Sparx unit.

Has anybody installed a RH Sparx MK3 switch? did it work!!

Any other alternatives?

I believe that Triumph used that same switchgear in that era and perhaps may
be a way to search for one new or used.

Thanks for the reply, already on the case, not having much luck!!

They are often repairable.

Thanks L.A.B., I've gone through some of the info. on this site.

I have the switch apart, the kill switch looks handy to restore but the ES switch is a sealed unit. I'll spray it with contact cleaner.

Not impressed with the connector on the end of the switchgear in the headlamp, might swop this out for seperate bullet connectors!!

I contacted Andy in Tri-core & he's out of stock for at least the next 3 months!!

OK, I think I saw some pins that could be knocked out, I'll do this in a clear plastic bag in case something goes 'boing'!!

Should be one tiny brass pin. There's no actual 'spring' or ball bearing inside.

The 2nd hole appears to be a drain hole.

I have installed the Sparx units. The quality is just so-so at best. On both sets the master cylinder could not be attached without opening up the holes on the switchgear because they are way out of line. But they do function. Also had to do some work to get the turn signal switch to function properly.

Appreciate the reply, good to know!

I'm not great with electrics but I know the basics!!

Before I stripped everything I checked the wiring. I have a Pazon EI. I did the spark test by touching the two wires going to the pickup together, no spark with switch in run position.

Unplugged the switch & jumped between yellow/white & white on the connector block & did the Pazon test & got spark.

So, stripped everything (L.A.B.'s pics really helped)

Starter switch was not too bad but cleaned it all up & gave the contacts a sanding.

Same thing with the kill switch, cleaned contacts & the tiny copper 'bridge' pushed by the spring. I can see now why people either bypass this setup on put a relay in!!

Plugged the switch back in & did the Pazon spark test & it's working, one small thing off my list!!

While doing this testing realised my battery is dead!, tried a smart charger and it reads 12.5v but the second you put a load on it, it dies!!

I had a Yuasa YTX20A-BS which fit the battery tray, no stock in Ireland so I'll need to find a UK supplier, Tayna seem to have a few options, any other suppliers worth trying?

Appreciate you passing this on, I'll have a go at bidding but I've noticed thing 'Norton' on Ebay can go for crazy money, more in some cases than the new part from Andover Norton!!!

So the setup below with the arrow pointing at it is what keeps my bike running or not!! in the switch. I'll leave a piece of jumper wire in the headlight just in case!!
