Keyboard Motorcycle Shippers are THE BEST. I've used them more than a dozen times, almost 20, actually.

OOPS! They only handle rollers, sorry.

Thanks everyone. I drove to Denver and picked it up - 2000 miles in 2 days...
ughghg i've been there, i drove from las vegas to philadelphia non stop with a psychotic black lab in the back seat. Because of the dog i could only stop at hotels that would allow her in, so i prearranged all the hotels and couldn't stop till i reached them, a lot of loud music and coffee!

That is a successfull trip. I left at 2am to drive to Hendersonville NC to pickup a bike. Very misrepresented and left it behind. Turn around and got home aroung 11PM. 1500 round trip. Next day won the bike I now have on ebay, 15miles away.

I saw that bike earlier in the auction when it was still around $750. For a basket case, that looks like a winner. I am happy for you.

Can't wait to see it as a unit.

Oh boy a MKIII with 7600 miles....just in time for a full tear down for a cam change. My (7 mile from new) commando will get a cam change before I register it and put it on the road for the first time. I am just now finishing up a MKIII cam change for a NENO member with only 18K and dead cam. We're putting in a flea market $20 1971 cam.
I can't imagine any one putting in a $300+ NA chilled iron cam .... last time I used one it was a disaster.

You take the Vet, or the Ferrari?

Edited by Jerry: You have the wrong impressions of me. I took the Camry :)

I have been going through everything and there are lot of parts missing. Luckily they are things I would replace anyway. I have my work cut out for me for sure. I am in no rush and yes the cases will be split, but I have some questions Dave:

1) What is a NENO member?
2) What is a "$300+ NA chilled iron cam"? Do you mean Norton Aftermarket?
3) Where should I get my new cam from and should I replace it even if the one in there looks okay?

Sorry for my Naivety

Jerry

I drove from DC to Grand Rapids and then back to Ann Arbor for a wedding, back to Grand Rapids and then back to DC in a weekend. Of course not on a Norton, but it was in the middle of the winter between Christmas and New Years when all those people in the upper midwest don't have anything else to do but get married and invite the relatives. Ugh. We did a 360 in the snow in the old VW hatchback at least once, probably around Toledo. I'll bet LA to Denver is a lot easier.

Let us know how it goes together Jerry.

Wow congrads Jerry I think your bike is one of the best looking & smartly done up Commando's I have ever seen so I bet the new one will be stunning too. Btw when did you move to Fullerton? I grew up here and currently live just North of Cal State by the 57 & Yorba Linda blvd. What part of town are you in? Glenn.

Welcome to the forum, Mr. Doe (odd name). We are here to help you. Just don't post smut or go off on a tirade about other members. The moderator here is really strict.

Hi Jerry
Congrats on the new acquisition
1. New England Norton Owner
2. Possibly a PW3
3. I think dynodave likes hard cams. I would put a dial indicator on the intake and exhaust and then post the numbers before you split the cases just yet.
Cheers.
