I have acquired a 74 Norton from my friend, in pieces, and I am beginning to plan my restoration...Would anyone know where I can find a color chart for the 1974 model? Thanks......

There have been several threads on that subject here.
And, to my knowledge, no-one has managed to turn up one. Yet.

Several 1971 ones have shown up, slightly bigger range of colors than 74.
Anyone know the link URL here ?
Or search for fireflake blue.

Hi, Welcome. Any pics of the basket-O-parts for us?

Thanks.....most of it is still boxed up, but will begin the inventory soon

So if you count up the 1974 color options for Roadsters, there is black with gold decals and pinstriping - double pinstriping, as mentioned - and candy apple red, royal blue (fireflake) and golden bronze (fireflake) all with silver pinstriping and decals.

And somewhere later in 1974, there was the white John Player colors for the Roadster, with the large blue and small red stripes.

Have we missed any ?

Pacific blue, which I believe was a candy color (not really sure). And white with the big blue stripe. Also, I always thought that the fireflake colors were fiberglass only and they went away with the '73 steel tanks.

The 1974 parts supplement does list: "Fireflake Golden Bronze" and "Fireflake Royal Blue" (not Pacific Blue) for the '74 Roadster.

The only "candy" is "Candy Apple Red".

Fireflake blue and bronze steel tanks have been featured here in the past, from '73-74 'bikes.

After much dialogue here I concluded that the blue was the same colour as the '69 'S' type a la DogT Avatar - it's amazingly difficult to get photographs to show what it really looks like, but it was my favourite until I did a green Fastback!

I believe the pacific blue was an Interstate-only colour:
It features in the '72 brochure with a single stripe (if you look really carefully there's a scratch on the tank!), and I'd guess it would have been fibreglass.

Here's a later steel tank before I stripped it - I also had some Pacific blue fibreglass side panels for a plastic airbox 'A' model with the dzus fastener hole.

The photo is a bit bright - it's actually a darker blue, more like the brochure shot

Pacific Blue was on the 73 brochure shown for a Roadster.
But it was called Fireflake Royal Blue in the parts book.
And called just Royal Blue somewhere else.
And Fireflake Blue for the 750 models earlier.
They all seem to be about the same color.
Although the flakes had become smaller (??) for the 850 versions in later years

The Interstate Blue tanks were a plain solid navy blue, no metal or metalflake in the paint.
You are right, photo does make it look a bit bright.

Thanks for the info.....can anyone tell me, for sure, if the lettering/pinstriping on the candy apple red bikes was gold or silver?

Silver pinstripes.

This is said to be a on original paint bike, in Florida.
lrutt, in a previous thread here on candy apple red.

Gold pinstripes give quite a different look.
Only the black & gold Commandos had gold pinstripes.
Unless someone has done a custom paintjob - of which there are plenty, including accidental/unintentional ones...

Does anyone know for sure whether the lettering/pinstriping for the candy apple red was silver or gold?

Please disregard my last post. I did not realize that there were multiple pages to this thread....and thanks for the pic of the bike with its original paint.
