1973 Paul dunstall Norton: Mike Wille.

I thought Paul Dunstall did not do much after about 1970. I have his tuning notes - they seem to be a bit dated. He built the first over-bored 750 which I think was 800cc. I do not think provenance means much - from the photos, it looks good and well-developed. With that front brake, the bike has probably done something.

I agree with you. It’s very uncomfortable which makes me feel like it had some racing history?

I seriously doubt that motorcycle did any racing. The front brake was an earlier design by Dunstall that was sold before Norton offered their own in 1972. It wasn't the best design as continuous hard braking would heat up the lower sliders.
If you're over 30, clip-ons and rear sets are going to be a test of endurance

I do have the side covers they were bare metal there was no badges on side cover or tank. No turn signals as well. Does have the Boyer ignition. I will look into the records. Have you ever done that? Thank you very helpful.
I haven't done the s/n research. I'm the original owner of the 750, so I know what there is to know.
Others on the forum have, so there's plenty discussion about doing that. Good luck and hope you find some interesting history.

Whoever built it knew what they were doing. The front brake is what is really needed. If that is really good, the rest does not matter so much. The brake helps you use the motor. You cannot use a heap of revs going into corners, if you cannot stop the bike. All the stuff about horsepower is bullshit, most motors are fast enough. When you race a Commando-based bike, you need to come out of corners faster by accelerating earlier. You will always lose a drag-race. 100 BHP when on a large angle of lean is difficult for most people to use effectively.

IMHO All 850 Dunstall equipped Commandos were stock commandos with bolt on hop up parts done by the dealers.
You have to go back to the 60s to find actual titled Dunstall's ,again IMHO

Tell Dave.

I am looking at my 810 - build sheet shows leftover 71 built to 72 810 spec as it was 200$ discount versus going with a 72. a couple of cool things it has the Dunstall kick start option and his alloy fork caps, It came through Berliner to Boston cycle and titled as a Dunstall
