Well Mick Grant was speed trapped at the I.O.M. TT back in the `70s at 190+mph , but I think it was on a green bike, not a blue one, nice pix though..

Was that IN the Quarter Mile . ? :p

Green ? mustve been mouldy .

Actually bought a green car once , next morning , at the coast , it was blue . Gave it a good wash . Actually a white car .Was parked in a shadey damp place for
four years . Looked spot on std ford colours too . . . :( 8)

1/4 mile??? a TT lap is 37+miles, Quarter Bridge you had confused maybe?, TT course has many hazards, insects/birds on the wing, mould on roads? dunno, no flies on old Mick though, albeit his record around the I.O.M. was better on triples than on J.P.N.s.

Argh , But Graeme Hill did 198 mph in one of these . In the SIXTIES . :p

All very well Matt, - but did that Hill chap do that speed on 2 wheels? or 3 cyls?
& what are you riding these days, surely not just google?

Saw this post Saturday morning sipping coffee sitting about 3 ft from Ms Peel with the blower drive cover off wondering what to do with it. Basically I seek Acceleration. I like the shove into saddle and strain on wrists of bee line sprints as much as anyone but what really sends me is the forward acceleration *combined* with the inward Acceleration of turns. So this top end speed is 2ndary to Peel but for how hard she pulls to some top end. Contesting with the crazies out here on 600's to 1200's I found none or them would run over 140 even if they could, so never got left behind in the long runs as there are turns before and after these opens and took em a while to catch up and then only a handful of mph faster so not far ahead before turns began where Peel was snicking down testing best acceleration where they were hard on the brake lights. So I figured if Peel could pull 150 they wouldn't stand a chance to catch up. Taking with Ken Canaga was told Peel's 920 set up w/o boost would hit at least 150. With boost + anti-detonation fluids imply at least 140 hp at rear tire, so with a fairing what top speed could I expect? How about naked as a Jay Bird? How long could Peel run over 150 with only 149 mph rated tires available in 19-18" rim size? Would the wheel bearings take it w/o skidding heating and seizing? What else could go wrong?

Legendary Racing Motorcycles by M.Duckworth & A.Seeley P.100, lists the `73 J.P.N. Monocoque as capable of:
155mph on 76hp at 7,200rpm [long stroke mill running 33mm Concentrics, Lucas Rita ignition, 5-speed box]
& weighing 350lb.
So if effectively faired, it dont take too many horses..
