For once in my life, the deal went better than expected, and nothing got broken. No one got hurt, and the bike turned out twice as good as expected.

Great photos ,BTW I am a tad concerned about the health of the rotor as there are visible dark streaks radiating outwards from the washer and nut area. Mine did this as an indicator that the rotor center had become slightly loose , and we know how much damage occurs when one of these decide to go on vacation. Better safe than sorry. Peter.

Those streaks are not on the rotor. There is an aluminum plate that holds the EI magnets. I have 2 other rotors that came with the bike, so I should be set if I have a problem.

Bwolfie I can see now the 2 extra rotors on the pavement and in the cardboard box another aluminum plate cover for rotor ignition system thing. I still say check all 3 rotors for loose centers as those streaks are coming from the worrisome area . My streaks were a combination of oil and zink casting particle mix from the rotor casting material.

The 2 rotors in the box look unused, that's the first thing I checked when I saw them. One eaven had magnetic field keepers on it.

I'm working up an order for OldBritts for the missing hardware pieces and a Master Cyl rebuild kit, $37 so far. Should be ridable after i get the parts. Still waiting for the title to get straightened out, it was stolen years ago from the PO. He started the paperwork, and I still have some of the money for the bike.

I need to get to the airport for some gas this week so I can try to fire it up.

It's a marzocchi front end setup for disk brake with a bolt on adapter. I am thinking of selling it and installing a factory front end. Anyone want to trade?
I am going to take this bike back to stock, I am missing so few parts, It would be crazy not too.

Took my box of spares over to the bike this morning. I looked thru the box that came with it, and found a MC rebuild kit and a few other missing bits. I'm down to a pair of muffler clamps, a primary cover seal, rear brake cable furrel, and a tank strap. I found all the other parts. I'd say that was a pretty complete bike.

I think they are Ceranni. The cap sucks, but I need it for the dogs. I'm on the hunt for a 18" rim. I think people would cry if they knew how little I paid.

I've just bought a Borrani 18" Rim from Woody Wheels Works (thanks debby). They might have more.
Else ebay is packed with 18"rims
Or you can find more info here :

I have most of the loose ends tied up, another hour or two and I shuold be ready to start it. Hopefully tomorrow sometime. As a bonus to my already great week, my production racer head steadys came in, they are at the post office, so i'll have them in the morning.

IT LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!! A minute of kicking and the sweet sound of peashooters. Now to get some avgas so I can put the tank on and rip up and down the driveway. Maybe eaven do a little hobot style on our 70 acres.

That's where the fat rear tire comes in handy followed by the garden hose ,wish we were there !

IT LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do ya have a name picked out for its new birth certificate?

A well tuned Commando needs lots extra fuel to fire off cold. You will have
fun learning its special needs over scale of conditions.

I actually got the exhaust bolts, often refered to as nuts, loose and the peashooters properly installed. I only filled the fuel lines with fuel, because I do not want to subject my pristine fiberglass tank to the sludge they call gasoline. I am going to save it for avgas, at least that should be better.

I think I need to re install the air bleed lever and cables on the amals.

The sebring ignition and regulator is working a treat. I love not having a battery to deal with and will be keeping it for now.

As for a name, I have been thinking about it, but am drawing a blank. It feels as a name is needed, but nothing seems to fit.

Don't sweat a name, it can take a while to come to you. I didn't name my 1st Combat till after 5 yrs horrible trauma of rebuild discoveries that forced me into semi expert on healing cranks to torque distorted cases. Still didn't have/consider a name till 1000 miles of pensive 'break in', then I let her hair out with rump rod installed trying to break her to know for sure and see what happens. Its was so good I was transported beyond the normal scope of cycle handling and left in state of unbelieving wonder. Next day in car still tingling from the unbelievable performance I heard Emma Peel whispered in my ear. Out of respect for the 'real' TV character and new age blurring of tradition, I slurred the name to Ms Peel. Trixie's GI dog tag had her name already scratched on it.

So like "Crazy" is taken so let's not go there. My friends bought a mountain up here (Scotch) and called it the "Funny Farm" . Last week another friend purchased a 62 acre spread only 15 minutes down the road and decided to call it the same . They have never met and when I told him it was taken just down the road he went into denial - disbelief. BTW he has a Featherbed Norton , a featherbed framed hot - rodded sportster and a Yellow track ready numbered cafe - racer Commando to play with. Nuff said.

Scored a nice used SS rear fender for a good price today. So I can re assemble that soon and get the tail light on it. Now I need to source a stock frontend and figure out some stock wheels. I'm thinking SS rims for this one. I'm going to loose the 16" rear and flanged aluminum front. I think a nice tidy stock bike will be nice for a change. I already have the other extreme, and it's no where near done.

Did some trading and got a Lansdown kit. I have my PR headsteady, got some triple trees, and possibly a whole frontend. I also got a nice on the outside steel roadster tank that needs a little underside repair, It was cheap. Now to sell my glass tank and other bits to fund the purchase of a 75 estart I found. I should have a 72, 73, 74 and 75 by the end of summer.

A few before pictures of the steel tank I found for cheap.
