Hello,

Here are photos the top and bottom of my forks/headset, are these the correct type to fit the headlamp halo onto ?, correct type for the bike ? ( 7 3/8 inches between centres, these were fitted to the bike when I purchased it ).

The bottom is needing replacement, am unable to find a new top yoke and am considering recycling the old one.

On the bottom one there is quite a bit of marking from the frame stops, is this normal ?.

Possm and fellow 1970 model owners,

Could you please post or email me photos of the headlamp rim, what bolts into the bottom of the top fork yoke, and how the ignition key and Zsus fasteners are mounted (LH side panel area).

Some 70 models seemed to have the dzues fastener on both sides. Mine only on the RH side, my LH side mounted with a spacer and bolt and nut.

LH and RH panle. The switch mounts in the hole on the LS panel. Up and down is off, horizontal is on.

Josh,
Couple of things. The nuts and bolts for the headlamp assembly are 1/4-28 UNF. There was a white plastic bumper that fit on the special top nut that holds the bottom rim on. You will need a spacer between your head bearings or you need to get some annular thrust bearings, or the old conical bearings will work if they are good. Don't use a standard sealed bearing without the spacer.

I doubt if you can find the special nuts and covers.
I hope you have the special pinch studs for the bottom.

Thanks Dave,

Do you have chnks missing out of your bottom fork yoke, as per my last photo ?.

My stops were not nearly as deep as yours. Maybe even just marking on the paint, no digging into the metal. After powder coat, I could not tell. I wonder if it did the tank slapper thing?
