1969 Commando

Hi - today i started a small repair job to replace the swing arm bushes on my 1969 Commando however to my surprise i found that the centre shaft is not threaded (normally 1/2')
is this something normal for a pre-1970 commando?
Any suggestions regarding getting the shaft out would be much appreciated - while it is in the frame with access from one side only

Use a big "easy-out"...

Mine is threaded #132031. But I've replaced in in the meantime.

Many thanks - a dyna-bolt did the trick
only to find out that the previous owner put the shaft in backwards -hence no thread
onwards to finish the repair and get her back on the road
