Hey everyone hope we are all keeping well Just having a look at looms for my 68 Commando an noticed two types PVC and Braided at Andover what does everyone prefer an anyone know what they had originally?

Many Thanks,

Tom

Braided collects dirt and oil etc, small rubbing particles may eventually fracture the fabric.
PVC not so much.
I prefer the look and feel of braided, so that's what I have.

Can't speak to originality on a 68, my 70 had braided fabric originally.

I used braided on my recent ‘68 Ranger project because I liked the look. Pretty sure PVC would have actually been the correct choice. My other P11A had PVC when I got it 30+ years ago, I assume it was the factory harness, the bike was rough but mostly original.

If you are going to use AN then check the fuse holder, mine was badly assembled and the fuse barely touched the contacts. Found out when the bike cut out, first check was the fuse, took it out and it looked fine so put it back in the fuse holder, turned ignition on and saw some sparks at end of fuse from contact being made and unmade. Rode home and pulled the fuse holder and replaced with modern in line fuse holder and 15A blade fuse.

I recently purchase the braided for my 1968 and have been impressed with the impressed with the quality.

Tom the braided is correct. DO NOT order the Lucas harness, it is not correct! I have purchased mine from British Cycle Supply.
