Sorry Ash & Eddy - guess it was option 2 !!
All good Rob you need to get out on your single and get some wind in your face again, its been to long.
Four rare earth magnets in the new JHs the older ones were two rare earth magnets.
Looks like I have caused some interest on the MAG plays Electronic debate, think I will stick with what I have for the time being and try it out.
My swing arm build started today will post up some pictures soon, needs a bit of milling action to start the next stage, also ordered up some bronze welding rods to use with the TIG welder looking forward to seeing how this goes.
Thanks for all the replies.
So a few pics of the swing arm parts and starting the build - the holes on the arms need to be enlarged yet to take the spindle tube but you get the idea.
Respect Paul. That’s a lot of work for something that’s available off the shelf, and I have to confess, I’d have probably taken the easy option!
But isn't that what its about building a bike doing as much as you can with your own two hands and once its on the road looking at what you have acived, its a good feeling.
Agreed Ash. We all have to draw the line based on our circumstances though. I’ve designed and made my own frames from scratch before. But my current shop facilities and time constraints prohibit such these days!
I guess although its a well trodden path building a Triton I am hoping to do my own twist and making the swing arm is just one of the parts that will do that, really looking forward to getting it mocked up.
Good on yer Paul !
Keep them progress updates, and more importantly, pictures a comin’...
So a bit more work on the swing arm, pivot tube is all welded in place on our jig & preparation is complete for the end plates. We need to finish off the arms and set up in the jig for the last section to be welded, another day still to go but getting there.
So bit more work on the swing arm
And in other news the front wheel is back
So rear wheel back in the workshop we now have a pair.....
Got your work cut out getting those rims up to a mirror finish Paul...
No bling on this project or not too much and certainly not the wheels......
