Does anybody have a extra set of gearbox brackets for a 1950 dominator model 7? will ES2 fit? I heard different opinions of this, some say yes, others say no..This is the only thing I need from basically have a rolling non-running bike. Engine will be ready bye end of summer..Steve

Ignore the folks who say the Model 7 plates are the same as the ES2.
They are quite a bit different.
The stud holes and footpeg bar are in different places and spacings.
(as is almost everything betwixt M7 and ES2).

From previous posts on M7 stuff

I'll see if I can get a pic of the ES2 version for comparison - mit laydown gearbox (1950 and later).
(The plunger ES2 plates pre 1950 were short stubby little things).

Sorry, don't have any spare, they are all attached to something.
If you are REALLY desperate may be able to loan a pair.
But from experience that probably means they will never come back !
There is a regular smattering of them on fleabay, thats where I obtained several sets.
Good luck.

So, featherbed brackets won't fit either. I thought I could maybe modify a set of those. I see them on Ebay all the time. I've never seen anything like the ones you have..

Dave--if I'm looking at your photo's right then, the bracket only goes up and over the gearbox, but not underneath it. The two outer edge holes that are basically up & down from each other, mount to engine. The one hole that runs across the top mounts to gearbox then, right? The slot is for is chain adjustment. Do you think anybody on the model 7 forum on yahoo would have any brackets? I've heard about it, but never signed on. Steve

I gave you the link to the fleabay sale of the clutch side one in the UK.
Which he hasn't sold we note - folks usually want the pair, and that is a bit expensive for just one. ?

Featherbed brackets are totally different - the frames and attachments are quite different again.

What Dave photos are we referring to ?
The Model 7 group just about died...

Sounds like success !
Pairs of them will now come out of the woodwork - ask me how I know this :(

If you get REALLY stuck, now that you have obtained one you can always take it to an engineering shop and have another one fabbed up.
I did this for something unfindable, using just a plywood template obtained by trial-and-error.
And the cost was very reasonable - although not as easy as finding one ready made...
(There are actually 2 plates here, one under the plywood pattern)

The footrest arrangement and gearbox adjuster on the Norton would add a little complexity,
but not impossible.

For any future readers here, unpaired ES2 gearbox plates were on fleabay recently.
(these are 2 battery side ones).

Oddly, they were sold, and then mentioned on the NOC forum, as for a plunger bike,
but obviously are later than that, being for a laydown box....
