What did you do to your Norton today?

Yup. Vintage. Both of them. I should have mentioned that I have two. The 850 that I ride around and recently took my wife out on, and the Combat that I've been restoring... Here she is, Ginger, in my office being worked on slowly.

You have been through three bikes since you got rid of yours .. No maybe just two. BMW Ducati Harley did I miss one ?
Kinda, still got the Harley, but added a Honda Africa Twin.

I needed a bike I know will start on the button without fail, do everything I want of it, and I won’t obsess over cleaning it !

You know this is the ‘modern Norton’ forum right…?

Sat in the garage, looking at it with beer in hand, hiding from ‘she of higher authority’.

Contemplating-contemplating the Thruxton replica aluminium fairing! Would look very sweet!

What are you using the Africa twin for ? What type of riding are you doing with it that the Harley won't ? Better question though , Which will you tire of first and move it on ?

Interesting questions !

In a nutshell, all of my bikes are (IMHO at least) nice, and when they get dirty it takes ages to clean them to my liking. The AT doesn’t really need cleaning !

The AT will go anywhere and do anything, and with 100bhp and a super fat, linear, torque curve it’s actually very quick on the road. Our little gang often goes into the depths of Wales and Scotland etc on the tiniest tracks. The Harley is a bit of a handful at that!

I‘m also hoping to get a few long distant trips in that the AT would be ideal for.

I am really warming to the idea of being on a bike that will do anything, no matter what.

As to which one outlasts which, we’ll have to wait and see. I gave up predicting such stuff!

Yep Nigel - I love my old iron but it’s nice to have a gas and go
bike . I have a Honda ST 1300 bought new in 2007 - never so much as hiccup out of it in all this time . I ride it very infrequently but when I do I fall in love with it all over again . It is the first one I would sell if push comes to shove but it is worth so little that it makes more sense just to keep it . Go figure - a wonderful 140mph excellent handling , braking, DEPENDABLE comfortable motorcycle
in perfect condition that I wouldn’t hesitate to jump on and ride across the USA tomorrow - is valued at a pittance .
