V4CR LAUNCH

TVS are aiming at a potential owner who couldn't care less about the history. The history to TVS is I think of no interest to them either.
A bit of a definitive (and interesting) interpretation there MN. They are clearly referencing this bike as inspired by Norton‘s racing pedigree, developed during racing at the TT - rightly or wrongly, depending on your interpretation. Lots of reference in the material to the heritage and history of the marque.

They will definitely be aiming at younger riders also, who may have less of a connection with the marque, although they are far less likely to have funds to purchase; Norton will be well aware of that.

The reference to ‘not many heard of Norton’ @ #130 (above) is likely not accurate IMO. On sale in the UK only, the Norton relaunch and models have been in every motorcycle publication, Blog and Vlog available for a few years now.

Any biker looking to purchase this machine is likely well aware of the marque and its history. Possibly some drawn to it through previous ownership, or a lusting never fulfilled. Looking at performance and exclusivity as well of course.

Unless we think that most prospective owners believe Norton stopped making bikes in the 70’s, or because it doesn’t look like a traditional Norton.

I still think they need to do a JPN tribute version...

V4CR LAUNCH

That would be a nice homage to the JPN of the past.
Maybe a 961 JPN too.
That's actually a batter idea, but there is no photo/rendering of such a bike...

Really, economical way to add another model to the line, just a fairing & seat swap!

Maybe a dealer offer / factory option...

(961 Scrambler option might not go amiss, either)

Just checked, and it was 2017 I was thinking of...I only took the 1098 once. I got snapped on it by the gooseneck. That was a bad year for weather 🌧🌧🌧 Although it looks great here, and it was a rare dry moment.....I did hit thick fog by the next corner.

I just saw this video :

Nice to see the V4CR actually in motion.

But my goodness, the advertising copy-writing BS in the promo is ridiculous!
There is nothing CR about the V4CR except the round headlight.
"a top speed over 200mph...", please, no way.
How about the speed governor required on superbikes to keep them below 190mph - no mention.
Let's see a real M/C publication do a real, extended test of a V4SV, and a V4CR.
Take each bike for a few weeks, and put it through its paces.
That will tell the story.

I had some minor reservations about styling of the V4CR, but it is definitely growing on me! There’s no way you’d walk past this beastie without stopping for a good look!

V4CR LAUNCH

It does stir a certain curiosity, but to me it's just a V4SV with an orange seat (unfortunately), sans fairing, faux airbox, and round headlight. Not at all what I would call a "cafe" variant.

I think a much better idea would be a hooligan version of the V4SV, let's call it the V4SH.

1. Ditch the clip-ons, add handlebar clamps, and lowbars, with bar-end mirrors.
2. Ditch the orange seat, and mini tail section, for black seat and longer, classically styled tail section, license plate below seat. Then eliminate the tail boom license plate holder - which is obscene.
3. Small bikini fairing around the headlight. Not a dart screen, an actual bikini fairing - that screams classic cafe.
4. Improve the ergos with better positioning of seat, pegs, and bars. Hooligan bike should not have crotch rocket ergos.

I have always maintained it has a great look to it. I have to admit though , I have been priced out of the market. Other than the fact that it is not available here , it is the cost that puts it out of reach for me. And I am willing to wager that there are a bunch of folks like me out there. I just can't justify the enormous outlay at my income level .

£42k.
For the base model.
Wonder how much the carbon version is? Closer to £50k I guess.
Very much looking forward to you telling us what it rides like when you get yours Stephen…
