Hi,
I'm the son of the Norton rider, Peter Middleton.

A feature-length documentary called "The Fastest Lap" is being made that is to cover motorcycle racing in the late 50's and early 60's, which will mainly cover the Northern circuits in the UK.

If you were a rider, race official or even a spectator during this period, who would allow an interview, please let me know. I'm willing to travel anywhere in the UK for just an hour of your time.

I'm also looking for any race results from this period. I've already found a few from the hand written information I have in various racing programmes along with newspaper articles.

Any help on either of these matters would be hugely appreciated.

Best Regards,
Pete

Sorry I can't help with any content, but it sounds like a great project. Please update this thread as you go, especially when the documentary is completed.

cliffa.

I certainly will do, Cliffa. Thanks for the support!
It already has a page on the IMDB, "The Fastest Lap" - of course it's early days so not even the poster has been uploaded yet.
Although it's mainly covering my Dads story, it will be great to feature as many riders from the same period as possible.

I've just discovered and bought the book by Bob Guntrip that features every result from British races between 1960 to 1970 - which is brilliant. If anybody knows of another book with the results from '50 to '60, that would cover everything!

Racing Line ?

Looks like one to put on my Christmas list :)

Yes, that's the one Cliffa. It's available to view online but every other page is missing to keep it an item worth buying. Damn!

The fastest lap on the slowest motorcycle is usually more fun than the fastest lap on the fastest motorcycle. I only go there for the dog-fights.

What an excellent quote!
Many people do not know how to really enjoy themselves. In about 2003, I won a couple of races at Mount Gambier, but nobody had a real go at me, so I was actually a bit disappointed. One young guy tiried a bit, but think he gave up asfer I put a bit of pressure on him.
