Hobot and Ms. Peel - Step up

True enough, but we're talking about a standard 108, not a BSB spec with a world class (WSBK) rider on board

Steve, your wife said to tell you that if you don't stop parking your harley on her side of the drive, she's going to back over it!

Why do you keep talking in the present tense when by all calculations the only norton you've been on since '04 belonged to a friend which you crashed into a tree.

You mention the Keith Code school, but I recall seeing something somewhere about you being tossed out because you knew more than the instructors. (and you crashed their bike)

but anyone that can beat the laws of physics and mathematics to get 130 mph at 6000 rpm with a 20 tooth sprocket ( I don't care how much you over geared with you belt drive) can't be all bad.

keep up the bullsh. there's always someone going to believe you.

I too laugh manically to myself, even hysterically, as I humiliate the highly experienced so called riders on their modern exotics.

My 40 year old long stoke British twin out accelerates, and out handles their silly efforts to stay with me.

It all comes down to my superior ability. They back down when faced with decreasing radiused 140mph sweepers.

I don't.

LOL!

There is nothing I would rather do than teach those exotic moderns how much better a rider I am than them!

I am showing the world just how superior a Norton 750 can be, when prepared and ridden by me of course.

It's all about ME!

Stay tuned for more of my thrilling stories!

We have officially gone over the edge...gee ain't this great?

Looking in my garage with the 2 strokes, V4 dohc, 5 valves/4cyl/dohc , I know that with my file and my hammer I will create a pusrods twin faster and more powerful that anything done by these R&D jokers with millions of $$ !!!! Twin cams desmo will never be even close to my output and all these ridiculous up-side down forks, complicated frames and grotesque rear suspension will be left in the, gravel, dust! Specialized adventure bikes will be lost behind me as I win the Paris-Dakar race just before I compete in a few GP in between setting world records at Bonneville!!!
I'LL BE THE MASTER OF THE MC WORLD!!!!!

Maybe we need to start a running "fish stories and bikes" thread like "the things I've seen on ebay" thread.

OK OK have I missed something here..........go away from the forum for 1 hour and this is what happens!! Going out on my 1999 V11 Sport for a quick sprint up the A20...................... :!: :!: :!:

Oh well too much interference and wife beating accusations to keep tales straight and no objective evidence form Peel's old daze because I too had no Earthly concept she could be that good, so nothing left but get back to my smirk wiping hobby project and hope I don't crash through any more deer and trees at 160 mph while flicking a finger at Kieth's Codes instructors. Am I really fool enough to set myself up as laughing stock of Nortondom - time will tell. The reactions are just proof to me ya don't know what ya missing out on but I can't blame ya - its so other worldly to me too.

Car vs bike?? Actually, Gary Thwaites went around Cadwell in 1.44 on his 750 Seeley, and 1.42 on the 960, while Mike Cooper had his 500 Manx around in 1.41.5 last October in less than ideal conditions, so basically, a good rider on a 750 Seeley is as quick as a 1098 Ducati around the same track!! Don't anyone dare dispute that a well sorted (racing) commando will do 150mph!

Now that's encouraging as I had little to go on how vintage compared to elite sports bikes and pure racers on same track. Part of Ms Peel's rub it in your face expression changer is to be a handy comfy daily mule with a milk crate.
If times are that close, boy oh boy tract days will be extra fun on Peel.

Not that big a deal to handle hi power going straight or a bit skewed crossed up, but how many seek instant over power to trip bike out in turns? I sure do of Ms Peel. Ya know if ya stand on saddle and lean bike to turn - it automatically straight steers. Does that mean anything to anyone besides me?

humbled hobot hobbling off after reading my heavier than air flight plan is just crazy talk.

Our man Burt managed to get over 200 mph on a 20's Indian..... :D
so 160 on a 'modern' should be easy....

So who will play hobot when "The worlds fastest commando" comes out?????? I guess Jason Statham as hobot.

I'd watch that, lots of high speed and things blowing up!!

That would be 'diamond geezer'.....but what about the luuuuv interest..... maybe Paris as she has her own race team?

...at 85 to 90 mph on smooth, well-kept Hawaii State Hwy 19, my 40 year old commando, with 155 lb. me on board will get air on even minor bumps... its scary as hell-and fun too. But I just can't imagine doing more than that (160 mph???) on one of these old thangs, maybe a seely, but the mostly stock bike I have doesn't seem to be built for much more than 90. make that 80....

Sheeze don't any yoose guys dice it up with Hillbilly pu's and wide eye'd gals in convertible Mustangs - that'll turn ya hair curly all over. Just in case its been misunderstood, yep 1098 level acceleration to over skinny tire ratings is Peel's goal as I already know they are corner cripples. Elites may have higher top ends but I intend to make em work hard for it. So far I don't know what its like to crash while turning fast and harsh. Ugh - surprise wheelies and stoppies and slow sharp Gravel slap downs plus big animals have knocked me out the saddle, but sporting turns are like Br'er Rabbit tossed into his thorny Briar Patch to me on Peel. Come on in! I want to put The Unapproachable back in obsolete Norton Commando lore. It'll be a hell of a blast trying before I get too infirm or killed off. Yehaw!

Hobot,

It is naive, uninformed, and irresponsible of you to state that Ducati 1098s are "corner cripples".

I am a member of a local Ducati bike club. I have ridden the 1098, and you, Hobot, are delusional and ignorantly arrogant to call that bike a "corner cripple".

Whatever credibility you might once have had has been reduced to zero with that statement.

And yes, I am quite sure you will soon enough find out for yourself what it is like to "crash while turning fast and harsh".

Your inexperience and ego will ensure you get to find out.

How about telling us how you managed to crash and get thrown out of the Keith Code school? Sounds thrilling!

Why is it just the new guys pickin on hobot............... Steve if ya keep playin on their insecurities you could reach iconic commando ridding status within the hour.

Dear sir the only thing I'm speculating on is how harsh and how long next Peel will accelerate not on out G's forcing and planting rather more power leaned than any thing that needs a steering damper to feel safer, pashaw. You be very careful please I do know how close a modern is to out of control to get a bit extra thrill. If ya know a magazine editor put a bug in his ear to start collecting the best specials and pilots of any breed to have show down with obsolete push rod baby buggy that's got some punch in the opens. I think 160 may be enough not to be caught in more technical race tracks and maybe even keep up in 1/4 mile. Tire traction in straight line is a mystery limit to me yet. Highest 18" tire rate I can find is only 149 mph - shaving can increase that but thins the skin for grinding away. Fortunately Peel can avoid slides for only short instants of rear not hooked up to max. Them fat soft race tires are the cat's meow on loose Gravel but are greasers to me when leaned. Beware.

If Peel was only neck and neck with elites in good turns I'd be building a chopper bagger to impress list how different Peel is. Hehe she'll be that too anyway.
