It's for my latest acquisition BSA r3Yes, it works.
About the same as paint stripper.
Still, you'll need a razor blade & some patience, but it does loosen the hardened on bits of gasket.
In the future, save yourself the hassle.
For the last 15 years, using Loctite 518 as a gasket dressing, my gaskets peel off like a sticky-note.
I gleaned it from a Rotax shop manual for my 800HO two stroke.
The best stuff ever.
Never thought of acetoneI use whatever I find to work, starting with mineral spirits, moving on to lacquer thinner, to acetone, to MEK. Use protective gloves when handling these solvents.

Yep I use that method amongst othersA good sharp chisel and a steady hand works great for me, get it under the old gasket and it will remove the old stuck on gasket easy.

But god knows what the previous owner used on this bike for gluing the gaskets on
Especially on the sump plate of the frame and crankcase
