Decent trade for Purple Combat

Pretty decent looking classic 70s British Iron.

I guess I'll hunt down at least the left sidecover, it looks cruddy without it.

wonder how your old trike is doing, I suspect not as well this.

I agree with your suspicions.

Looks like you are still missing the OPRV. Are you going to rattle can the tank?

I'm going to leave the tank exactly as-is. It needs a steel tank, and the budget won't allow it.

The tracking for the OPRV is vague, it's probably getting here today, but could be Monday. I really wanted to get it running this weekend...

Impressive quickie budget rebuild GPZ :) moocho better; IMO, to have it back on the road running ... than sitting any longer waiting for 90% new parts, polishing and bling. Joy of 70s bike riding soon for happy new owner. Thanks for posting and the many pics; brings happiness to see another back on the road. Does convict me of my own "slug slow" rebuild of my own 1974 850. Hopefully, posts like yours can stir me to move again ...

That is the EXACT reason for my posting them, and encouraging Jerry to open this forum section (as I did on TriumphRat.Net, and instigated on BritBike.Com)

I'm pretty close to 50/50 in my enjoyment of working on them as well as riding them. I'm also "all-in" on encouraging refurbs & restorations rather than mothballing or scrapping.

Can't wait to see a first start video clip!
Hopefully, later today...

(although I've not yet been able to get more than a few seconds of video to upload at anywhere under several megabytes)

Installed the OPRV, filled the oil tank, primed the rockerboxes with oil, kicked it a few dozen times, then got it all set for startup. Flushed the tank and added 2 gallons of mid-grade, replaced the temporary fuel lines with new hoses & clamps, then checked the carbs - no leaks. Kicked it 3 times and it fired, gave it a few more tries then decided to re-check the AAU & points settings. Sure enough, the advancer needed to be rotated just a tad. Started on the first kick after that!

Nice oil return after about 20 - 30 seconds at low idle.

Nice steady tickover. No smoke from exhaust, no issues.

NOW it rains. Test ride will have to wait...

The rain lifted and I managed some test riding.

Where there is Combat, a cannon is nice to have...

Free shipping, nice
I've been doing that for a couple of years now. It's all in setting a realistic starting price that takes that into consideration.

Thank you for this thread. Now I have a better understanding of what I have to do with my own project.
