Atlas Primary Chaincase

Hi All
Making a lot of progress on my Atlas project and was wondering what those of you with rearsets have done about fastening the chaincase less the stock footpegs? Thanks

Leave off the footpeg brackets and make a spacer to replace the missing brackets, or shorten the thru bolt. The internal spacers of the chaincase must remain in place.

I would make a new, shorter, thru bolt from rod stock, thread each end . That is not keeping purity, but neither is fitting rearsets. At least you will have the original thru bolt should you decide to go back.

You will need a heavy washer at each end to prevent the nuts from gouging into the serrated ends meant to be adjusters for the footpegs.

Here's a photo of the inner chaincase as the mainshaft passes through. It is darn near a perfect fit. Question how in the world is there room for any primary chain adjustment?

The Disc slides accross a slotted hole in the case .
Are there 2 discs spot welded together either side of the chaincase that slide over the slotted hole ?, mine looks exactly like the other posters & has unfortunaley been powder coated with what appears to be the 2 discs in place and appear immovable

Yes. Drill out the spotwelds and purchase new discs from AN. they are not very expensive.

cheers, yes did that last night & managed to not destroy the powdercoat which was handy :)

Refer to the Resource Link I gave above (reply #6) for tips on assembly of new discs, as well as other tips to enhance the chaincase.
