K & N FILTER INSTALLATION

Any tips for installing k & n r-0990 on 1973 750 commando? I can’t seem to tighten enough to stay on the carb.

Do you have the adapters on the threads of the Amals? There are sleeves that thread on Commandos's Amals and other brands of bikes that would increase the OD of the carbs. Look at parts books for Commandos 03-3027 or Triumphs/BSA.

I’d like to know as well since I jettisoned my CNW filter. The new one is still on but I’m thinking I need to tether it somehow.

First time can be a bitch. Heat the inlets on the filter slightly with a heat gun, wiggle it on with a top to bottom rocking motion.

Yes I do.
I actually gave up and returned it. The big issue for me is putting on the perforated plate. I ended up cutting it and feeding it around the filter. That seem to work pretty well.
