Thiel Motorsport de-cat + silencers – real world experience & how to order?

Hi all,

I’m considering upgrading my Norton Commando 961 with the Thiel Motorsport exhaust setup (both the de-cat pipe and possibly their silencers).

I’ve read some positive comments here and there, but I’d really like to hear real-world experiences from owners who are actually running this setup.

A few questions:

- How noticeable is the performance improvement with the de-cat pipe?
- I understand you need to do a remap. Are these available
- How is the sound compared to stock? Any examples available? Is it significantly louder? Deeper tone or just more volume?

Also, I’ve tried contacting Thiel Motorsport by email to order parts, but I haven’t received a response so far.

- Has anyone recently ordered from them?
- What is the best way to reach them (email, phone, other)?
- Am I using the correct contact details? info@thiel-motorsport.de??

I’m based in the Netherlands, so any EU-based experience would be especially helpful.

No experience of the exhausts I'm afraid, but I think @Fast Eddie had some in the past. I was in email communication with Ollie last week. That is the correct address.

Hi Jansen,

Do a search for ‘Exhausts’ and ‘Thiel’ in the search function - selecting ‘This forum’ and leaving ‘Member’ blank. There’s plenty of discussion on this subject.

Anyone in the UK know were to get new standard looking pea shooter replacement silencers for a 961 please.

I’ve bought multiple items from Thiel, they can be difficult to contact - small but busy concern I guess. Worth persisting though, as they sell quality products.

Hi Jansen, I'v been in touch with Ollie by several years, buying a lot of thing and, yes, both decat pipes and short Hattech silencers.
I would say there is no big difference either in performance or sound towards the Norton OEM, of course consider decat pipes there also for a correct comparison.
Thiel quality is very high, perfect chrome on the silencers, the decat pipes has a simple but intelligent way of adapting to mount it on.
DB Killer are removable from the silencers, without them the sound of course become very loud but not so pleasant in my opinion, and mapping is hard. Better leaving them and, eventually, increase their holes number.
Finally I've the Delta remapping tool and did at least one hundred or more maps by myself, but the best results were obtained with the throttle body mods eliminating the air inlet across.
