I taped a magnet to the fuel line on our little Hondas racer, and it was definitely catching the crud from the tank, so I'll stick with it.

I use one of these on my 71 year old Velocette...has a built in magnet. Thinking to put them on the Commando too... sourced off Amazon.

Unfortunately I'm busy juggling a day-job at the moment, but I'll keep you posted
