RGM Racing Brake Lever

I have a big disc, 1/2” master cylinder and a Grimeca caliper and was after a bit more feel/bite so I may give one a try.

5/8" to 1/2" master cylinder made a big difference, a change I made a few years ago - I had the disc an caliper with the 5/8" m/s prior to changing to 1/2"

My full Grimica front brake set up came with the longer lever gives better feel to the brake and not putting much pressure to make everything work, surprising just a little bit more leverage makes in the feel.
 
Not sure it will make any difference Dave as it's a straight replacement for the AP racing lever, currently just under a £100. Will it fit a standard Commando mastercylinder?

£35 for the RGM version so worth a shot?

I have a original AP Master cylinder with lever and Cup. It is original in bore size of 5/8".
I might try my lever on my road bike Lockheed M/C that was switched over to a 1/2" bore.
 
Ordered yesterday and arrived today so great service from RGM. I’ve fitted it but haven’t ridden the bike yet, the lever has something of a god leg which bring it just under 1/2" closer to the bars and for me that is an advantage already as I have large hands but my fingers aren’t particularly long. The area of the lever where my two fingers go is wider than the standard lever so will be more comfortable in use. The action feels more progressive in that the standard lever goes very firm with the new lever feeling less firm and I’m assuming there is slightly more leverage. I’m happy before I’ve tested it primarily due to the reduction in reach so I’ve gained something already. I’ll report back after a spin.

"God leg"? Thought that was an electric starter? 🙂

give us your feed back after a ride or two . Love to here the pro's and con's on the switch out of the levers.
 
I’ve now been out for a few hours and here are my thoughts. Being closer to the bars the brake is more comfortable to operate. There’s more feel so the brake is more progressive, now I’m not entirely sure if this is a byproduct of the lever being closer to the bars or if the leverage is actually different to the standard lever. Anyway, due to the more progressive feel I can brake harder without a vice like grip on the lever. So for me the front brake has shown an improvement and one that makes the £35 cost seem a bit of a bargain.

I was going to add that prior to the change of lever I was thinking of changing the front brake to the Madass set up but now I don’t need to.

That's good to hear Dave. I also found that replacing the standard "Balloon" grips allowed me to get greater purchase on the lever, and hence improved power / feel.
