Tr6c / t100c / t120c opinions

As a kid I always had Triumphs - most of them had race cams, The 1960s T100s all had the BSA white metal timing side bearing. 1973 was the first with the proper bearing. There was a T100c which had a splay port Bonneville type head. Percy Tait won a race at Spa with a factory 500cc Triumph and beat Ago who was riding a 500cc MV. I doubt it would be possible to buy the factory racing parts for the 500cc Triumph. The only racing parts that I know of were GP and the Tiger 100 race kit of 1953. I have a photo which shows Percy Tait with the works T100 on a start grid behind Ago, Hailwood and Read. My short stroke Triton 500 was made out of 650 parts. The factory T100 would have been much better. But a 500 twin can be very nasty due to their power band. I would not like to race a Paton 500.

What you need is a alloy 750 Norton injun in a A 10 frame .

the lightness , Triumphs Dirt development related . Usually stabler two up . on the interstate / intercontinental trip .
COOLING , all dem race suckers had BIGGER oil tanks . Besides , brakes only slow you down , if youve any anticipation
it helps .
T C Ran 16 rears , touring . This gets a brake under the weight , and still lets it steer , but K 70s are best , if your not a peg scraper .

Basically , in the day , Triumphs were run ' flat ' through the gears , W.F.O. , if unmaintained they blew up , like a Norton .
Excess Clearances .
K Bang .

Eitherve done 100.000 between overhaul , serviced and filtered. With D N E of 6.000 . But THE WEIGHT means Id put the extra pocket on the back of the oil tank , if its summer .
Either can boil their oil . Plus double capacity the oils used half less so goes twice as far , if your apt . As in 2000 miles will be fine , or 3000 . tween changes . in everyday use .

You want the best air filters you can get . And boreing holes in engines must influance mist (oil ) paths ! . I belive the late unit primary hles are just that . Stopped nitwits blowing
the primary dry & throwing the chain , as theyre red hot unoiled . Literally ! . You dont want a pile of renovated scrap . Hence LOW TIME componentry . Unthrashed .
Tho a Triumphs built to take a hiding . Or faults developed out of early series . The orrible 56 unit 500 frames good on dirt / gravel . A 3TA with 500 barrel & pistons
doable . no Sweat .
Run W F O all day .
Put together well .

Yea , the oilings eveything with this olde British junk . Like Brough Superiors .

A bloke had a 74 ? T 90 . Had all the good bits . Stock .
Overtheway was a ' High Comp. 650 single carb . Judgeing by the noise .
Turned out to be a 500 outfitted 3Ta . gnarl rasp etc .

The antique 59 frames good for 90 , on the dirt roads,. two Up .
A 58 Speed Twin won the forest sprint , as nobodyelse was game
to throw it into the turn ten yards after the finish tape .
Cunning sods ! .

A Triumph Steers on the throttle more , the noitin balances ( the drift ) on the throttle .
Or you can build a frame that does both , with parts of each . Front ends interchange ! .

A triump swing arm is usually more securely located . Fixed , even ! Not a strong point ,
with the Norton . Then theirs rattly old concentrics ! . :(
