I am just starting out on a desert sled project, T140 engine into a 1955 A10 frame. apparently there are drawings for the engine plates for this out there somewhere. before I get into cardboard bending etc has anyone got these drawings or know of them. this is not actually on the bench yet but getting closer so preparation is starting. thanks in advance. N

its been a long time, don't know how I used to fit in work, but I have done a lot of work on this project in-between life jobs, and am well into a dry build. I lined the chain through today and set the engine up to make spacers, the T140 engine sits 10mm off centre to the left hand side. I can't think of it doing any harm but has anybody done this and is it normal for this build, or can you for see any problems . thanks in advance N

My last road bike was a 650cc Triumph engine and gearbox in an A10 BSA frame. I made full circle gearbox plates for it. The whole engine and gearbox were a tight fit in the frame, the height of the engine meant a collision with the tank mount. I used 1963 model Triumph 650 fork yokes - the bike had excellent handling. Normal BSA A10 yokes have more off-set - so less trail. I should have raced it. It was better than my Featherbed Triton.

Making the engine plates is not difficult - and there is a sense of achievement. Things are only difficult the first time.

A 10mm offset will be fine
You won't even notice it
