That warm wash feeling as adrenalin dissipates

I swerved & avoided this car last night seconds before he killed another motorist.

Wow.

Sickening... Worst part is that it was the INNOCENT driver that was killed and not the perpetrator. So wrong.

Mick Ronke was the CEO of Winton Motor Raceway. He once said 'a lot of road trauma could be avoided by providing better driver training'. I suspect that most Australian drivers have never experienced their car swapping ends at highway speed.
Education is important :

I agree.
ANY ongoing training would be better than none.

If novice drivers were trained properly from the start it would help. Mine consisted of a few hours with an instructor, watch some gory films of crashes then off you go for the road test. But that was 54 years ago when there was less traffic and more civility and common sense in the world. And the three years I spent sneaking out on my Honda 50 Dream when mom and dad weren't home helped a bit too.

Glad you are ok Bob - sad for the police officer and family.
IIRC Finland provides more F1 drivers per capita than any other nation because all new drivers go through intense driving instructions.

Horrible, glad you dodged.

Without any details on the condition of the tesla driver have to suspect autopilot, but I would assume the "smart car" would be smart enough to disengage if it detected a wrong way scenario? Maybe that's having too much faith in the engineers.

What I do know, from a pal who was a tesla sales guy, is that the cars are extraordinarily rigid for their size (the battery and associated frame) with a very low centre of gravity. They tout this as a safety feature in the brochures, so in most collisions opposing drivers are likely screwed from that standpoint

Just found out a couple I know were killed riding their trike two days ago
It was a head on collision
A car coming the other way on their side of the road

SHIT!!!

I'm sorry baz.

We don't always have time/space/distance to avoid what I call "assassination attempts"

A couple of times when I was a kid, when passing a car the driver has tried to run me off the road, and not by mistake. Some people are homicidal, and if they succeed in killing someone, are unlikely to be called to account. In motorcycle road-racing, the worst thing you can do is to crash another rider. But we need to lookout for the guys with the egos, and inferiority complexes.
