I bought a reed breather kit from Kenny that was in the USPS system on Aug 9th.

I've been getting regular tracking updates up to 16th where it was processed through a facility in Ireland. After that the trail goes cold. That was a week ago.

I'm thinking customs, though there is no information to tell me that's where it is.

It not being here isn't holding me back any, as I've got other stuff to do on the bike first and so I'm reluctant to open an enquiry with customs on the off chance that by not alerting them, it may slip though without attracting any import duties - as much as I love giving money to the government

Anyone had any recent experience with this kinda malarkey?

Found out last night (via twitter direct message to USPS) that my parcel is now in the hands of ANPost, where it has sat in Dublin for 9 days.

But at least there is visiblity on it.

I'm hopeful that it will be in my hands by mid September

Seems to be a total lottery as to how these things go... As you say, tracking can vary between non existent and totally bizarre (from A to B, via F and S !!)
I've been fortunate to have parcels left in spite of a big red 'Do Not Deliver' ticket, and also had to pay Royal Mail 'fee handling costs' in excess of the good's original value....

Yer pays yer money........ but gets no choice :-(

Update, despite no tracking to indicate shipment has arrived in the UK (last scan exiting Dublin 25/08), I came home from work yesterday to find a letter from Customs & Excise advising that I need to pay them £53.34 import vat. I payed immediately and thought I'd try my luck at collecting it today at PO HQ. No such luck as they can't find it, but told me to see if it gets delivered next week.

I'm quietly confident ;) (that might have cursed it )

Nice! Have I won the lottery? Still to early to tell, but I shipped a cylinder head from Texas to West Yorkshire, UK on Sept 1st via USPS; and as of this morning, tracking shows "Departed London"! Not bad considering the 5 days included a holiday weekend; but we'll see.

USPS is accountable to no one.
Welcome to the wild west.
Everything now is "reimagined".

Bonz, Looking forward to your report on the new breather. Looks like my luck ran out; cylinder head arrived just in time for a 2-day postal strike.

Yeah, I heard they're on strike again, but to be fair, I reckon you'll see a delivery on it by midweek, and at least it seems you have some visibility of it.

The last scan I have for the breather I fitted to my bike last night is showing as departed Ireland on 16th August

It finally arrived at it's destination in the UK today. But even though I declared it sent for repair, was charged 60 quid for customs, VAT and other fees. :(
