I like beer

Popped out to the coast again today. Ostensibly to have a look at the walled gardens at Blickling - very good and well worth the trip if you have an interest. There is a pub just outside if not.
The Elizabethan house is alleged to be haunted by Anne Boleyn, one of HenryVIII's ex's.

The navigator uses CoPilot on her tablet. It has got stuck on "shortest route" which takes us down all sorts of narrow and twisted roads. Fine by me, as we have chalked a load more boozers to go and visit. Even better were the several "Beer Festival" signs - it must be the season again.

The sea was very blue today, very calm and virtually no swell. The crab was great - a Norfolk treat.
 
I'm now hooked on Hopped Out IPA's , everything else tastes a bit flat after one of those.
Epic Pale Ale is a very nice local drop. We are now spoiled for Craft Beer here.

Irish Passports.
I have one as my parents were Irish, my wife has one as she was at the time married to me for over 7 years.
My Kids have " Irish Resident Born Abroad" and I took the papers in recently to avoid the queue of Poms and all they need to do is the usual form filling, pics and they send off for a passport.
 
Well I'm leaving the base here in Kuwait for Dubai U.A.E. and will be out in town, looking for a beer real soon :D

Well here I am back over here, Iraq this time, and hey guess what.... we have O'Doul's in the chow hall :shock:
 
Imported beer sucks. Not because it is not made in your country but because the various govt's like to take a slice of your pleasure.
In the UK alcohol is taxed quite heavily, so that Fullers would only be a few dollars cheaper.
Here, much "imported beer" is actually made in a facility in Northampton. It must be the ying to the Cosworth and Mick Hemmings yang.
Fortunately there are many other beers worthy of drinking. A decent lunchtime (meaning you can still work in the afternoon) beer comes from cut price outfit Lidl, called Golden Goose, £0.89 per 500ml bottle*. Its tasty hoppy style suits me nicely on these days when I set to and work out in the garden.

*Just as a comparison, one of my all time favourites, Proper Job, from St Austell Brewery, is £2.00 in a supermarket, or maybe £1.60 if you multi-buy (and why not).

There are a few 'imports' that are actually brewed here in the US by Miller or Budweiser, or brewed in Canada (to qualify as an import) by Molson

Next time you look at a Foster's, Kirin, Sapporo, or Beck's, read where its actually brewed and bottled.

The Foster's I like used to be called 'Special Bitter', now its just called 'Ale'. Comes in a Green 750ml can (called the oil can, as if anybody remembers them!).

Comes from the far off land of Albany, Georgia - home of MillerCoors in the Southeast.
 
If the most interesting Unique Selling Point of a beverage is that is an import (or more usually, just an overseas brand), then it's possible it's drinking qualities are not very impressive.

We're having visitors at the end of the month. I have two breweries lined up to visit. Old (230 years) and traditional Elgoods in Wisbech http://www.elgoods-brewery.co.uk/our-ales/ and the newer Woodfordes out in Broadland https://www.woodfordes.co.uk/. Both of which we have been to before, but not done the tour with the tasting at the end.

Both are well known regional brewers and are available for testing in many locations.
 
The local brewery in Seattle was Ranier, named after the mountain that pretty much dominated the SE Vista from Seattle only a couple hours away.

I drank my share of Vitamin R.

They had great ads. This is from the early 80s, when I had a...cough....Honda.

New York State along the Canadian border about 13 , miles from the Cornwall Ontario border crossing. Few of the locals even know about morel mushrooms. My ex was an avid morel hunter when we lived in Southern Indiana where mushroom hunting is extremely popular. She found the 1st one here while mowing the grass.

You’ve got your ex mowing your grass? You’re good. I live in Illinios and we hunt them just about every spring.

What took you out there? I've been looking at property in the Cornwall area.
