I want to have an oil pressure idiot light to work in tandem with my Old Brits oil pressure gauge. I can't see the oil pressure gauge in the dark and even in good light I might not notice low oil pressure until the engine starts making noise in which case it may be too late to prevent damage.
Not interested in the complicated whizzbang flashing systems being marketed. I am looking for the simplest installation possible so I have decided to just use an oil pressure sender unit as the ground for my "ignition on" light. Easy-peasy without adding unnecessary complications. The light will still let me know when the ignition switch is turned on and once the engine is running I really don't see the need for a light to tell me the ignition is on.
Where is the best place to screw in a sender unit? Any recommendations on a compatible sender unit? Perhaps one that comes on below 10 psi?
