does anyone know a source of spare parts for Lucas switches fitted to 75 Mk3's? Looking for the tiny fiddly bits, springs, contacts etc.
Thanks

Anyone have the Lucas numbers for these complete 1975 Lucas switch assemblies?

I don’t think they are available anymore. There are repos that are used on older Triumphs that are similar and are sold as Norton replacements. Look at Fast Eddies Triumph he is selling, appears to be the same switchs. Not all, if any, of the inner parts are interchangeable between the older and newer repos.

Reproductions by Sparx is your only option if you want new switch clusters and insist on maintaining the appearance of originality. CnW sacrified original looks and offers japanese switches. Combined non-stock switch clusters and the master cylinder requires careful investigations and a good deal of luck. Please keep us posted if you go that route.

I have never done this myself, but friends have bought Sparx units and transferred the switches into the original Lucas alloy bodies without any difficulties.

Don’t even have to do that, I found a set of rt/left sparx that even have the same colored wires, direct bolt in, works perfectly. Even has bullet ends.
Bonneville speed shop had them, just used the fronts with wires buttons etc, discarded the backside attachment.

I think perhaps you've misunderstood the reason as there's no actual need to transfer the Sparx switches, it's done to maintain originality as the Sparx switch clusters are marked 'Sparx' not 'Lucas'.

What / who is Bonneville speed shop?

Thanks. The switch you linked to they call "left" side, but on the 73-74 models would be right side, without a clutch lever. Indicator, kill and spare. My kill switch doesn't work and has been bypassed, if the innards of the Sparx switch can be transferred to my Lucas housings I'm very interested. Anybody know for sure?

Thanks. Chris Knight shows the correct part - red kill button and all - but none in stock. Rats.

I bought mine from British Cycle Supply they're part numbers for them are 391-35316 Left Hand Late and 391-35317 Right Hand with Electric Start both are made by Sparx but I put them on 4 years ago and have had no problems at all with them. Their US phone number is 201-880-0366 or email to info@britcycle.com

Yes, the internals are 100% transferable too. My Lucas housings were in terrible condition.

What were the functions on the left hand switch for earlier versions? My 74 has dip beam toggle, horn and main beam flash. Was there a kill switch on the left before 73?

All the factory did was to swap the clusters over so the switch functions are as before only on the opposite side and reversed top to bottom:

SERVICE RELEASE

CATEGORY OF RELEASE: 4 (as overleaf) motorcycles No. N3/3

NATURE OF RELEASE: Reversal of handlebar switch clusters.

MODELS AFFECTED: Late 1972 Commando - all models.

DISTRIBUTION: Worldwide (for general distribution),

EXPLANATION:
As a direct result of user requests for right hand operation of the direction
indicators, the decision has been taken to interchange the left and right hand switch
clusters. To save changing wiring colour identification at 6 connectors, the functions
of kill button and headlamp flasher and spare button and horn shown in Illustration 2 of the
Riders Manual are also reversed. New prints of the handbook will include this modified
layout but where motorcycles have been despatched which are at variance to the
handbook, the supplying dealer is requested to acquaint the new owner with the revised
layout. From the time of the changeover, the revised control positions will be:

LEFT HAND........................................................RIGHT HAND

Top button - Headlamp flasher..................................Spare button
Lever switch - Dipswitch.........................................Direction indicators
Bottom button - Horn.............................................Kill button

ACTION: Ensure that all new owners of modified models are suitably briefed.
