Is this pipe discoloration normal ?
Is this pipe discoloration normal ?
What do you think?

Yea. Lots salt, sand, chemicals on top of all that heat. Dobt forget, Harleys and other bikes have chrome shrouds covering their pipes so thr always look nice.

My exhaust is the same, especially the down pipes. My hunt for the best cleaning/polishing product continues. Just tried Autosol, did’nt work. I see pictures on the forum of beutiful stain free exhausts and am sure these products exist.

I think I’ve started this thread myself before. Can we re-visit this? Which products have worked for you in removing staining from your exhausts. Thanks guys.

Steve
Sunshine Coast.

Try this technique, works great with autosol

"Meanwhile, three days later...….." Looks good. Is it better than Flitz? I tried Blue Job at someone's recommendation. Cleaned the pipes but also filled the finish like an abrasive. That Triumph doesn't have polished pipes, but if you do, stay away from the Blue Job.

This and a nylon kitchen scourer also work to get rid of the tarnish prior to polishing - just don’t tell ‘er indoors

"OR" is it time to get the decat pipe? Will it make any difference other than looks? The bike has never ran better so I'm hesitant to mess with it.
Currently running shorties with One07 Coil and spark plug leads kit otherwise all stock.

Is Solvol better than Mothers ? I think Mothers works good for Aluminum and Magnesium , but stainless discoloration it's just barely ok in my experience. It looks as though I can get Solvol on Ebay , I will give it a try.

Blue job dulled my finish on chromed pipes. Only use on brushed stainless. Its like using Comet.

If you get the inside of your pipes ceramic coated it’ll eliminate exterior discoloration and staining.
